Feya's Flowers
Seira had a rather difficult assignment. She had to create a biology project on the topic “Flowers I Have Never Seen Before.”
She loved biology and knew almost every kind of flower. She had seen everything that grew in her country and the neighbouring countries. Not knowing what to do, she headed to her favourite park to concentrate on the task.
The park was close to her home, and it took her less than ten minutes to get there. Once she arrived, she discovered a bush covered in flowers that seemed unremarkable at first glance, yet somehow didn't look quite ordinary either.
Taking out her camera, which she loved using for photography, she began taking pictures of the bush from every angle: above, below, from the left, and from the right.
At one point, she noticed that some of the petals were about three millimetres shorter than the others, while the wider ones were unusually thick, almost two centimetres thick.
When she placed her hand on one of the petals, she felt a sudden electric shock.
She jerked her hand away from the plant, barely suppressing the urge to scream. A sharp crackling sound rang out, like electricity crackling through water. The shock was painful, but not strong enough to make her lose consciousness.
After writing down everything she had discovered in her notebook, she headed home.
As soon as she entered the house, she ran into her mother.
— Seira?! Oh my God, where have you been?! Why didn't you call or text me?!
— Hi, Mom. I was at the park. I didn't think it was important enough to bother you. The park isn't far away. What could possibly have happened?
— Fine, let's forget about it. Go wash your hands and join Dad and Ley at the table. But next time, let me know where you're going, and don't forget to turn on your location sharing!
— Okay, I'll go wash my hands — she replied, ignoring her mother's panicked rant. — But in a couple of minutes. I need to charge my phone first. It's only at two per cent…
Entering her room, she spotted her younger brother, Ley, searching for something under her bed.
— Ley? You know the rules. You're not allowed to enter someone else's room without permission. Mom said you were supposed to be eating…
Ley jumped, startled by her sudden appearance.
— I wanted to find my Spumik!
— The little grey plush bunny? You're already six, and you still play with toys?
— Yes! Please, help me find it…
— Fine, I'll try to help you…
She began searching the room, picked up her charger, and plugged it into the socket. Her mother had always warned her to be careful with the outlet in her room because it was broken, but Seira never paid much attention to the warning.
The moment she plugged in the charger, an electric shock struck her, and—
A brief hiss, like electricity's final whisper, swept through the room.
This time, it wasn't the weak shock she'd felt in the park. It was a powerful, dark surge that engulfed her entire body and sent her plunging into nothingness.
The last thing she saw was Ley's terrified face, his eyes wide with fear, before everything went dark.
