Summary

"Oops! I Transmigrated as the Villainous Billionaire’s Wife." Evelyn just transmigrated into the most hated woman in the city—the toxic, abusive wife of the ruthless billionaire Dominic Vance. According to the novel’s original plot, she is a cruel stepmother destined to torture Dominic's three-year-old son, Leo, before being thrown out to the streets to die a brutal death. Desperate to change her fate, the new Evelyn decides to sign the divorce papers, pack her bags, and run for her life. But first, she looks at the trembling, neglected toddler hiding under the stairs. Kneeling down, she gently pulls him into her arms. "Don't cry, little guy," Evelyn whispers, wiping his tears. "From now on, Mommy is going to protect you. "Little Leo blinks in shock, his tiny fingers tightly gripping her shirt. "Mommy... really won't push Leo away anymore?""Never again," she promises. When Dominic Vance returns home, expecting his wife’s usual frustration, he finds a completely different woman. She doesn't ask for his wealth or attention. Instead, she calmly slides the signed divorce papers across the desk with a polite smile. "Here you go, Mr. Vance. It is all settled. I'll be leaving now." But as she turns to walk out, Leo runs forward and clings to her dress, sobbing.

Chapter 1: Waking Up as the Villain

A sharp, throbbing pain pierced through Evelyn’s temples, making her feel as though her skull were splitting open.

She groaned, reflexively reaching up to press her hand against her forehead. Her fingers met smooth, clammy skin, but something felt instantly wrong.

The texture of the sheets beneath her, the heavy scent of expensive French perfume in the air, and the sheer scale of the bed she was lying on did not belong to her cramped, rented studio apartment.

Opening her eyes, Evelyn gasped. She was staring up at a massive, crystal chandelier hanging from a vaulted ceiling. The room was sprawling, decorated in opulent shades of gold, white, and deep charcoal.

"Where am I?" she muttered, her voice sounding entirely different—smoother, higher, and laced with an unfamiliar elegance.

She sat up quickly, a wave of dizziness washing over her, and swung her legs out of the bed.

Her feet sank into a plush, custom-made rug. She rushed toward the nearest door, which led to a massive walk-in closet lined with luxury designer bags, and found a full-length gilded mirror.

The reflection staring back at her stole the breath right out of her lungs.

The woman in the mirror was breathtakingly beautiful, with pale porcelain skin, cascading dark curls, and sharp, almond-shaped eyes. But it wasn't her face. Evelyn knew this face. She had spent the previous evening reading a trashy, addictive web novel on her phone until 3:00 AM, infuriated by the antagonist who shared her exact first name.

"Evelyn Vance..." she whispered, touching her lips in the mirror.

She hadn't just traveled through time; she had transmigrated. She was now inside the body of the villainous, universally despised wife of the city's most ruthless billionaire, Dominic Vance.

In the novel, the original Evelyn was a spoiled, toxic socialite who used her family’s status to force Dominic into marriage. Resentful that her husband never loved her, she turned her malice toward his three-year-old son, Leo, from a brief, mysterious past relationship. The original Evelyn spent her days abusing the toddler and screaming at the staff, eventually driving Dominic to ruin her family, divorce her, and leave her to die destitute in a psychiatric ward.

"No way," Evelyn said aloud, her heart hammering against her ribs. "I am not going down that path. If the plot says Dominic wants a divorce, I will give it to him on a silver platter. I just need to survive."

Before she could process her thoughts any further, the sound of a harsh, sharp slap echoed from the hallway outside, followed by a muffled, high-pitched whimper.

Evelyn’s maternal instincts, honed by years of helping raise her younger siblings, flared instantly. She threw open the heavy bedroom door and stepped into the grand, marble-floored corridor.

A few yards away, near the top of the grand staircase, a middle-aged woman in a crisp housekeeper's uniform was towering over a tiny, trembling child. It was Leo. He was small for his age, wearing oversized pajamas, his little cheeks pale and tear-stained. A bright red mark was already blooming on his left arm.

"You little brat!" the housekeeper, Mrs. Gable, hissed, her voice dripping with venom. "How many times have I told you not to wander around Madam's wing? If she sees your ugly face, she'll lock you in the dark basement again, and I’ll be the one getting blamed! Get back to your room!"

Leo shrank back, his tiny shoulders shaking as he tried to swallow his sobs. "L-Leo was just looking for a cup of water... Leo is thirsty..."

"Drink from the bathroom tap, you nuisance!" Mrs. Gable raised her hand again, ready to strike the boy a second time.

"Keep your hands off him!" Evelyn's voice cut through the hallway like a cracked whip.

Mrs. Gable froze, her hand suspended in mid-air. She turned around, her expression instantly switching from cruel to a fake, submissive smile. "Oh, Madam Evelyn! You’re awake. I am so sorry this little pest disturbed your rest. Don't worry, I was just teaching him a lesson. I'll throw him back downstairs right away so he doesn't annoy you."

In the original novel, Mrs. Gable was a wicked opportunist. She knew the original Evelyn hated the child, so she actively abused Leo to please her mistress, while stealing from the mansion’s budget.

Evelyn walked forward, her eyes cold and calculating. She ignored the housekeeper entirely and knelt down in front of the toddler. Up close, Leo looked heartbreakingly fragile. His large, dark eyes—identical to his father's—were wide with pure terror as he stared at her, expecting a blow or a harsh scream.

Instead, Evelyn reached out and gently pulled him into her arms.

Leo stiffened instantly, his little body going rigid as wood. He had never been held like this before. Evelyn ignored his shock and wrapped her arms tighter, rubbing his back. "Don't cry, little guy," she whispered softly, her voice melting with genuine warmth. "From now on, Mommy is going to protect you."

Leo blinked in utter disbelief, his long eyelashes wet with tears. His tiny fingers slowly clutched the silk of her robe, his voice trembling. "Mommy... really won't push Leo away anymore? You won't lock Leo in the dark?"

"Never again," she promised, wiping a tear from his cheek with her thumb. "I promise."

Standing back up, Evelyn turned to face Mrs. Gable. The warmth in her eyes vanished, replaced by an icy glare that made the older woman instinctively step back.

"Madam...?" Mrs. Gable stammered, confused by the sudden change in dynamic.

"You're fired," Evelyn said calmly, her voice echoing off the marble walls. "Pack your bags and get out of this house within the next ten minutes. If I see your face here after that, I will call the police and have you arrested for child abuse and corporate theft. I know exactly how much you've been skimming from the household accounts."

Mrs. Gable’s face drained of all color. "You—you can't fire me! Mr. Vance hired me!"

"And I am the mistress of this house until the day I sign the divorce papers," Evelyn snapped, stepping forward with an intimidating aura. "Get. Out."

Terrified by the sudden authority of a woman who used to just throw mindless tantrums, Mrs. Gable turned on her heel and scrambled down the hallway to pack her things.

Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief and looked down at Leo, who was staring up at her with awe, his little mouth slightly open. Before she could speak to him, the heavy double doors at the main entrance of the mansion clicked open downstairs. A cold, oppressive aura filled the entire estate.

Dominic Vance had arrived.

Evelyn felt a chill run down her spine. Holding Leo’s small hand, she walked to the top of the grand staircase and looked down.

Standing in the foyer was a man who looked like he had been sculpted from dark marble. Dominic Vance was towering, with broad shoulders clad in a flawless, bespoke charcoal suit. His jawline was sharp enough to cut glass, and his eyes were a piercing, pitch-black color that radiated a dangerous, commanding authority. He was the epitome of a ruthless male lead.

Behind him stood his administrative assistant, holding a thick leather folder.

Dominic looked up, his eyes locking onto Evelyn. His expression immediately hardened into a mask of pure disgust and impatience. He didn't even notice that she was holding Leo’s hand; he simply assumed she was using the boy as a shield or a bargaining chip again.

"Evelyn," Dominic’s deep, baritone voice reverberated through the hall, devoid of any warmth. "Come down to the study. We need to talk."

"Of course, Mr. Vance," Evelyn replied smoothly, her voice completely devoid of the usual frantic desperation the original wife possessed.

Dominic’s brow twitched slightly at the formal title, but he turned and strode into his study without another word.

Evelyn patted Leo’s head gently. "Go to the kitchen and ask the chef for a big glass of milk and some breakfast, okay? Mommy will be right back." Leo nodded eagerly, a tiny smile forming on his lips for the first time in his life, and ran off toward the kitchen wing.

Evelyn took a deep breath, smoothed down her robe, and walked down the stairs into the study.

Dominic was sitting behind a massive mahogany desk, already signing a few corporate documents. When Evelyn walked in, he didn't even look up. He simply slid the thick leather folder across the desk toward her.

"I don't have time for your usual theatrics today, Evelyn," Dominic said coldly, his voice clipping every syllable. "Your family’s company is bankrupt, and your father can no longer protect you. I am done with your tantrums, your cruelty, and this farce of a marriage. Sign the papers. You will receive a lump sum of five million dollars and a penthouse downtown. In exchange, you will never step foot near Leo or me again."

He finally looked up, his dark eyes narrowed, bracing himself for the inevitable explosion. He expected her to scream, throw things, weep, and threaten to hurt herself just to get his attention.

Instead, Evelyn walked forward with absolute grace. She didn't look at the five-million-dollar figure with greed, nor did she look at him with heartbreak. She pulled the cap off the expensive fountain pen resting on the desk, flipped to the final page of the contract, and signed her name in clean, elegant cursive.

Evelyn Vance.

The entire process took less than ten seconds.

She slid the documents back across the desk to him, offering a polite, radiant smile. "Here you go, Mr. Vance. It is all settled. I've already fired Mrs. Gable for abusing Leo, by the way, so you'll need to hire a new nanny. As for the penthouse and the five million dollars, you can keep them. I don't want a single penny of your money. I'll pack my personal clothing and be out of your house by this afternoon."

Dominic froze. His hand remained suspended over the paperwork, his dark eyes widening in a rare display of complete shock. He stared at the signed document, then up at the calm, entirely indifferent woman standing before him.

"What kind of game are you playing at now, Evelyn?" Dominic asked, his voice dropping to a dangerous, low growl as he slowly rose from his chair, his massive frame looming over the desk. "You expect me to believe you're just walking away?"

"No game," Evelyn said, taking a step back to maintain her personal space, her smile remaining perfectly professional. "I've simply realized that forcing someone to love me is exhausting. I'm choosing to leave with my dignity. Goodbye, Dominic."

She turned around and began to walk toward the door.

But before her hand could touch the brass doorknob, the study door burst open. Little Leo ran into the room, tears streaming down his face. He completely bypassed his father and threw his tiny arms around Evelyn’s legs, burying his face in her robe.

"Mommy, don't leave!" Leo sobbed, his voice heartbreakingly desperate. "Leo will be good! Leo won't be thirsty anymore! If you leave, please take Leo with you!"

Evelyn’s heart wrenched. She immediately knelt down, comforting the crying child, completely forgetting her plan to make a clean, quick escape.

Dominic stepped out from behind his desk, his eyes darting between his son—who had always feared Evelyn—and his wife, who was currently cradling the boy with a tenderness he had never seen her display.

The cold CEO stepped directly into Evelyn’s path of escape, his expression shifting from disbelief to an intense, burning determination. He looked down at her, his voice firm and absolute.

"You want a divorce, Evelyn?" Dominic asked, blocking the exit entirely. "Look at our son. He needs you, and clearly, things in this house have changed. Do you really think I can just let you walk away from this family now?"

Evelyn looked up into his dark, possessive eyes, realizing with a sudden jolt that by trying to escape the plot, she might have just trapped herself right in the center of it.
