Chapter 1: Unfamiliar Bus and New Beginnings
Kian’s POV
Oh, no.
I had barely even gone to sleep, and here we go again—my mom was knocking on my door nonstop.
“Coming, Mom!”
I dragged myself out of bed and opened the door, only to see her staring at me like she was completely done with my nonsense. Well, this was our everyday routine. It was her daily job to wake me up every morning; otherwise, I would probably sleep until 2 PM.
“You do this every single day,” Mom said, shaking her head. “Get ready! You’re going to be late for college.”
It was the exact same dialogue every single morning, to the point where I was completely used to hearing it. But today was different. Today was my very first day at college. I just hope everything goes smoothly, with no trouble at all. Please, let trouble stay far away from me today.
Following my usual routine, I finished eating my breakfast, got fully dressed, and gave my mom a tight hug.
“You better not get yourself into any trouble today,” she warned softly, giving me a pointed look. “Study hard on your first day, okay?”
I nodded with a smile. “I will.”
With that, I headed out the door to catch the bus to my new college. I was bursting with excitement, though a small part of me felt secretly terrified. I was really hoping I could make some good friends today, especially since all my old high school friends had enrolled in different colleges. I was only able to attend my dream college because I won a scholarship, and I prayed that everything I planned for my future would turn out to be a complete success.
I stood at the bus stop for a few minutes until the bus finally pulled up. Stepping inside, I noticed a lively mix of people—young women, men, and older adults. Some were chatting, while others were idly looking around at the passengers.
As I looked for a spot, I noticed a boy who kept staring at me.
I smiled back politely and said, “Hello.”
“Hello,” he replied, smiling back.
“Where are you heading?” I asked.
“To college for my first year,” he said. “At St. Engineering & Medical College.”
I got so happy hearing that. “Oh! So you’re a first-year student there, too?”
He nodded with a smile.
“I am, too!” I said, feeling a rush of relief. “Then we can be friends and hang out together! That way, we won’t feel bored or lonely, and we can help each other out.”
“Hmm, that actually sounds really good,” he replied, looking visibly relieved. “To be honest, I was getting a bit scared about what might happen or how things would go. It’s definitely much better having someone by your side.”
“Yeah, exactly,” I agreed.
As we chatted about various little things, our bus stop arrived. We stepped down from the bus together and walked toward the college entrance.
The campus was huge—absolutely massive. Rich kids clearly studied here, and I had heard rumors that some were even extra arrogant. But why wouldn’t they be? Alphas like them, born into wealth, were always trying to dominate everyone else.
Anyway... oh! I suddenly realized something as we walked. Here I was, hanging out with my very first college friend, and I hadn’t even asked for his name!
“Hah, by the way... what’s your name?” I asked, laughing sheepishly. “I forgot to ask you earlier!”
He smiled. “My name is Sun.”
“Nice to meet you, Sun! My name is Kian.”
He smiled warmly. “Okay! So, who are we going to ask about our classroom? We’re new here and don’t know a single place around campus.”
“All right, wait here for a second while I check,” I said.
I looked around the campus courtyard and spotted a group of five or six guys chatting in the college parking area. They definitely looked like seniors. Since I couldn’t see their faces clearly from a distance, I figured I would just walk up and ask them nicely.
I walked over to the group and said, “Hello, excuse me... I’m looking for my classroom. As a freshman, I’m not really sure where to go.”
I stopped talking the moment all the boys turned to look at me in surprise, as if I had just committed some terrible crime by asking a simple question.
Among the group, one boy stood out immediately. He looked extraordinarily rich and handsome, wearing high-end luxury brands that made it obvious he came from a wealthy family.
Suddenly, he stepped closer to me, looking straight into my eyes. His gaze was dark and piercing, giving me an instant chill down my spine. Still, I needed to find my room, so I pressed on. “I just need to know where the freshman classes are held. If you don’t know, I can just ask someone else.”
Before I could turn around to walk away, he suddenly grabbed my hand tightly.
What the hell? His grip was insanely tight.
“Second floor, Room 23,” he said, his voice cold.
“Thank you!” I blurted out, quickly pulling away and running off toward Sun.
Oh god, that was so suffocating... I feel like I just did something really dangerous. I shook my head, warning myself inwardly: Kian, you better think twice before walking up to random people on campus!
Sun and I quickly headed up to our classroom. Soon after, our class teacher arrived, had everyone introduce themselves, explained the college rules, and started our very first lesson.
Sitting at my desk, I smiled to myself, feeling happy. Finally, without any major trouble, I was sitting peacefully in class.
