THE BEGINNING

A girl lies quietly with her eyes closed.

Outside, the world continues. Someone is building a house nearby. Birds call from distant trees. Life carries on without her.

Then she sees a light.

She opens no door. She crosses no portal.

She simply finds herself moving.

Beneath her stretches an endless forest, its leaves illuminated by delicate halos of light. Rivers flow through valleys of impossible colours. Tiny fairies drift between enormous butterflies, scattering shimmering particles that dissolve before touching the ground.

She looks up.

Clouds gather, forming themselves into shapes she has never seen. Birds emerge from the light, spreading their wings as they fly beside her.

She looks down.

Flowers bloom across the forest floor. Creatures she has no names for wander beneath ancient trees. Every living thing seems to carry a gentle radiance of its own.

And she is flying.

She turns around.

Far behind her, a palace is emerging from the landscape. Towers rise slowly, balconies unfold, and enormous bridges weave themselves between floating structures.

She watches it grow.

She doesn’t remember deciding to create it.

Yet somehow, she isn’t surprised.

She looks towards a little fairy hovering nearby. The creature tilts its head.

The girl smiles.

The fairy smiles back.

For the first time in a long while, the girl feels something she cannot explain.

Not excitement at discovering somewhere new.

Recognition.

As though she has returned somewhere she never knew she missed.

THE MYSTERY

As the story unfolds, the girl discovers that Dreamland changes with every direction she explores. Some places appear instantly. Others develop slowly, becoming more intricate the longer she observes them.

But the world has secrets.

Some places seem to remember her.

Some creatures recognise her before she recognises them.

And somewhere beyond the forests lies a region she has never seen—a place where the light gathers into enormous, unfamiliar shapes.

She begins to wonder:

Did she create this world?

Did the world create itself?

Or is she discovering something that has always existed in a way she cannot yet understand?

Dreamland offers no immediate answers.

Instead, it invites her to explore.

THE HEART OF THE FILM

This is not a story about escaping reality because reality is worthless.

It is a story about wonder—about discovering beauty, finding companionship, and learning that not everything meaningful needs to be controlled or explained.

The girl may never discover exactly what Dreamland is.

But her experience changes how she sees the world she returns to.

And perhaps that is part of the mystery, too.

Some worlds are places we travel to. Others are places that teach us how to see.
