Chapter 1
Genevieve’s POV
One bottle… two bottles… three bottles, until I couldn’t keep count and just allowed the alcohol to take over my body and soul.
“Eve, you shouldn’t be drinking this much. It’s not good for your health,” Nora, my best friend since childhood, said as she snatched the bottle of tequila from me, attempting to stop me from taking another gulp.
I slapped her hand away with a deep, disapproving frown. “Not good for my health?” I let out a dry, bitter laugh. “Why should I worry about my health when my life is over?”
“Your life is not—”
I tuned her out as I tilted the bottle of tequila over my mouth, taking gulp after gulp. After almost emptying the bottle, I slammed it on the table, grabbed Nora’s arm tightly, and looked directly into her eyes.
“What would you do if the people you trusted with your life betrayed you?” Tears brimmed in my eyes immediately. “What would you do if you walked in on your boyfriend and twin sister kissing and moaning each other’s names? And when you confronted them, you were told off by your boyfriend and called a slut by your twin sister?”
The memory of David and Doris having a passionate moment flashed across my mind, and like a fountain, my tears flowed down my face.
I couldn’t believe my twin sister would betray me like this. I couldn’t believe she’d deliberately steal my life and happiness.
Nora moved closer to me. She rested my head on her shoulder and patted me gently on the back, comforting me. “I know. I know how you feel, darling,” she cooed.
Words couldn’t come out of my mouth; I could only hiccup and cry more. I didn’t know how long I had cried, but I guessed I had cried enough because I suddenly felt the urge to vomit and sprang up immediately.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Nora asked as she stood up after me, her eyes trailing over my body for any physical discomfort.
I raised my hand to assure her that I was fine. “I just need to use the restroom,” I replied, and before she could say another word, I rushed off.

Finding the restroom was a bit of a hassle for me since it was my first time coming to this hotel, but I found it anyway and went in to do my business—vomiting.
After vomiting so hard, I rinsed my mouth and washed my face, then stepped out, but there was a new problem… I couldn’t find my way back.
Not wanting to linger in the restroom, my tired, drunk self began staggering down the long hallway. Taking a turn, I bumped into someone and quickly murmured a “sorry.” I wanted to move on but was suddenly held by the wrist and pulled back gently.
“Easy, Bambi. Where do you think you’re going?” a male voice asked me.
With a deep frown, I snatched my hand from his grip. “I should be asking you that. What are you doing in the women’s bathroom?” I asked without looking up at his face. I was focused on steadying myself on my feet.
“Women’s bathroom?” He sounded amused. “I don’t think so.” He grabbed my hand again and led me back to the point where I had taken the turn that made me bump into him. “What do you see here, Bambi?” He pointed at a small signpost.
My eyes widened instantly. “Men’s bathroom?!” I exclaimed.
“Hmm-mm,” he hummed in agreement.
I finally raised my head to see his face, and I choked on my spit as my eyes almost bulged out of their sockets. He was so ethereal—his sharp jawline, striking green eyes, cute pouty lips, straight nose, and dirty-blonde hair, which complemented his looks but... there's a small deep scar right above his left eyebrow. And what about his athletic physique? His broad shoulders and strong muscles were obviously fighting to stay contained beneath his shirt. Why was I seeing a real-life demigod?
While admiring his face, I squeezed my legs together as I suddenly felt aroused. Dirty thoughts clouded my mind. I began imagining us naked, with him taking me to cloud nine and—
He broke my thoughts when he snapped his fingers in front of my face. “Are you still with me?” he asked, an amused smirk playing on his lips as if he knew what was running through my mind.
“No, I want to have your baby,” I blurted out. Damn it! The alcohol was messing up my words.
“What?” A confused frown appeared on his face.
“My ex cheated on me with my twin sister. I want revenge,” I explained vaguely.
His frown deepened. “You can’t have revenge if he’s already your ex…”
“I don’t care!” I cut him off. “I want you just for tonight, and you are not allowed to say no!”
“What?”
“Take me to your hotel room right now!” I commanded, then grabbed his hand. The alcohol gave me a stupid audacity, which I definitely loved.

We made it to room 1688. He reached for a key card in his pocket and opened the door. As soon as we were inside, I quickly pushed the door closed, dragged him toward the king-size bed, and pushed him onto it, then got on top of him.
“Bambi, we’re strangers. We shouldn’t—”
His words got stuck in his throat as I grabbed his shirt and tore it open. His eyes widened in disbelief as he held my hands to restrain me from further movement.
“Whoa! You’re bold, and I like it, but slow down. Didn't your mama warn you about strangers? What if I’m a serial killer rogue? Or even the Alpha King?” he asked.
Maybe I was hallucinating because of the alcohol, but his eyes darkened when he mentioned the words "Alpha King." Could it be he's trying to tell me he's the Alpha King? But that can't be possible. I mean, the Alpha King should be an old man, he wouldn't be coming to a hotel to bang a random stranger like me.
I shrugged simply. “I don’t care,” then crashed my lips onto his.
He broke the kiss and quickly flipped us over so that I was underneath him. “Then allow me to be in charge.” With that, he crashed his lips onto mine, and we kissed hungrily.
