Prologue
I am running—
a book clutched tightly in my hands, tears slipping down my face even as I laugh like I’ve forgotten how to stop.
It doesn’t make sense. I know.
But then again… nothing about him ever did.
The book feels heavier than paper should.
Not because of its weight—
but because of what’s inside it.
My words.
His words.
And everything we never managed to say when it actually mattered.
I should be walking. I should be calm.
But here I am running with all my might.
Because if I stop now, I might lose the only answer I have ever needed from him.
Raffaele Marino.
The man who left like love was something he could outrun.
The man who turned silence into distance.
The man I still somehow never stopped chasing.
I don’t know if this book is an apology…
or a confession…
or a mistake we are both too late to undo.
Maybe I’ll understand when I reach him.
Maybe I won’t.
But I am running anyway.
Laughing and crying at the same time.
Because for the first time in years…
he feels close enough to reach.
So you’ll have to come with me.
Two years ago—
where it all started.
