Summary

Urban noir set in tropical Bangkok, where demons are nothing to fear, until they start hiding inside human minds. Light returns to Thailand at the request of Father Martin, who sent him to Canada eight years ago to live with a priest friend. In Toronto, Light graduated from a Catholic university and became the art world's brightest discovery. Striking and cold, he has been different since birth: he can't stand anything church-related, and he's haunted by intrusive thoughts. Beyond his artistic talent, he carries a frightening power that the Church denies but its shadow twin, the Council, craves. At the head of the Council stands Adrian Crowe, obsessed with a prophecy about the birth of a new messiah. For years, he has experimented to forge a new God. His greatest success is his own son, Elijah, raised to take the religious throne, a destiny the young man does not want. Light's arrival changes everything. Crowe sees in him the perfect candidate: cynical, calculating, unyielding. He sends his son to bring Light in, offering total freedom and non-interference in return.
