Chapter 1

Five Hundred Years Ago

[Location: Earth]

Out in the open wasteland, countless bodies littered the ground.

Humans.

Beasts.

Monsters.

All of them had fallen during the brutal battle that had raged across the land.

The air was thick with the stench of blood and ashes. Smoke covered the sky as explosions continued to shake the earth, while the remaining warriors desperately fought for survival.

"Hold the line!!"

A man clad in a full set of flaming armor shouted as he thrust his hand forward.

A massive wave of flames erupted from his palm and shot toward the approaching monsters.

BOOM!

The flames engulfed several beasts, burning them to ashes.

The man was the commander of the battalion sent to stop the monster horde from spreading deeper into human territory.

But his situation was becoming desperate.

Most of his soldiers were already dead.

Those who remained were exhausted and covered in wounds.

Yet the commander refused to retreat.

"Don't let them through!"

He raised his sword and charged toward another group of monsters.

But despite their efforts, several beasts managed to break through the defensive line.

The commander's eyes widened.

"This isn't good..."

He watched as the monsters sprinted toward the distant settlement.

"They're heading for the village!"

He immediately attempted to pursue them.

But before he could move, a gigantic beast landed directly in front of him.

BOOM!

The ground cracked beneath its feet.

The commander tightened his grip on his sword.

"You're not getting past me."

The beast roared.

The commander charged.

Meanwhile, the monsters that had escaped continued running.

They eventually reached the settlement.

"We're under attack!"

A guard screamed.

Before he could even raise his weapon, a monster lunged toward him.

The settlement immediately descended into chaos.

"RUN!"

"Save yourselves!"

"Someone help us!"

Families scattered through the streets as the monsters rampaged through the settlement.

Buildings were destroyed.

Guards desperately attempted to defend the civilians, but the difference in strength was overwhelming.

One by one, the guards were defeated.

The people could only run.

Then-

A calm voice echoed through the chaos.

"Come forth..."

The voice was so quiet that it almost sounded like a whisper.

"My Legions."

The air suddenly became distorted.

A strange black energy spread across the ground.

BOOM!

Four dark figures materialized out of thin air.

They stood silently behind a young man dressed in a long black cloak.

Unlike everyone else around him, the man didn't appear afraid.

His eyes remained fixed on the approaching beasts.

The four figures stepped forward.

The monsters roared and charged.

The first dark figure raised its hand.

A massive black blade materialized in its grasp.

SLASH!

The nearest beast was sent flying.

The second figure disappeared.

A moment later-

BOOM!

Another monster was struck from behind and slammed into a building.

The third figure released a wave of dark energy that swept across the battlefield.

The fourth simply stood still.

Yet the moment a monster approached it, an enormous black barrier appeared and crushed the creature beneath its pressure.

The civilians stared in disbelief.

"What... are they?"

The cloaked man remained silent.

His four summoned beings continued slaughtering the monsters.

But suddenly-

The man's expression changed.

He placed a hand against his chest.

His breathing became heavier.

Chaos Energy: 10/10,000

A faint notification appeared before his eyes.

His summoned beings were powerful.

But he didn't possess enough Chaos Energy to release their true abilities or to maintain the summon

"If I continue like this..."

He looked at the monsters still pouring into the settlement.

"...we'll lose."

He clenched his fist.

Then he made his decision.

"I'm sorry..."

He closed his eyes.

"I'll have to use it."

Black energy began gathering around his body.

The four beings immediately turned toward him.

Their expressions changed.

Master...

A strange force began draining the man's life force.

His skin became pale.

His body weakened.

But the power surrounding his four summons continued increasing.

"Destroy them."

The four beings obeyed.

Their power exploded.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The entire battlefield shook.

The monsters were overwhelmed almost instantly.

One after another, they were destroyed.

The civilians watched in stunned silence.

They had survived.

But the man who had saved them collapsed to his knees.

His life force had almost completely disappeared.

Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth.

He smiled faintly.

"At least..."

He looked toward the surviving villagers.

"...they're safe."

His body fell forward.

THUD.

Silence.

The four beings stood motionless.

Their master was dead.

Then-

CRACK.

A strange sound came from beneath the man's body.

The ground began to tremble.

The four beings immediately turned around.

A dark aura began leaking from the man's corpse.

The air became unbearably heavy.

The surviving villagers froze.

"What... is happening?"

The man's body suddenly lifted from the ground.

His eyes opened.

But they were no longer the eyes of the man who had just died.

They were completely black.

A deep voice echoed across the settlement.

"Five hundred years..."

The four beings immediately raised their weapons.

The voice continued.

"...I've waited for five hundred years."

The black aura exploded outward.

BOOOOOOM!!!

Buildings were blown apart.

The earth cracked.

The clouds above the settlement twisted into a gigantic vortex.

The four beings were thrown backward.

One of them slowly stood.

"Impossible..."

The creature looked at the man floating in the air.

"The seal..."

"It has been broken."

The man slowly raised his head.

A terrifying smile appeared on his face.

"I AM THE FALLEN."

The moment those words were spoken, the entire battlefield fell silent.

The Fallen stretched out his hand.

A massive wave of dark energy swept across the land.

The four beings barely managed to defend themselves.

BOOM!

The impact sent them crashing through the ground.

The Fallen laughed.

"Freedom..."

He looked toward the sky.

"After all these centuries..."

His aura continued growing.

"I am finally free."

The four beings stood together.

They knew they could not defeat him.

Not with their current powers.

Their master was dead.

Their abilities were all that remained.

The first being lowered its weapon.

"We have only one choice."

The second nodded.

"We must use the forbidden seal."

The third looked toward the Fallen.

"If we do..."

"We will lose our abilities forever."

The fourth remained silent for several seconds.

Then it stepped forward.

"For our master..."

The other three followed.

"...and for this world."

The four beings released their remaining power.

Four enormous pillars of energy appeared around The Fallen.

The Fallen's expression finally changed.

"What are you doing?"

The four beings began sacrificing the very abilities that made them powerful.

Their weapons shattered.

Their armor disappeared.

Their bodies began turning into streams of energy.

The Fallen roared.

"STOP!"

He unleashed an enormous wave of darkness.

But the four beings continued.

"ANCIENT SEAL-"

The four pillars connected.

"FALLEN'S PRISON!"

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

A gigantic sphere of energy formed around The Fallen.

His screams echoed across the wasteland as the seal began consuming his power.

"You think this can hold me?!"

The Fallen struggled against the barrier.

"I AM THE FALLEN!"

The four beings poured everything they had left into the seal.

"We know."

Their bodies began disappearing.

"But you will remain sealed."

The final burst of energy erupted across the battlefield.

BOOM!

And then-

Silence.

The Fallen disappeared.

The four beings were gone.

Only a gigantic black crystal remained where The Fallen had once stood.

The surviving villagers stared at it from a distance.

Nobody dared approach.

The battlefield had finally become quiet.

But deep within the black crystal...

Two crimson eyes slowly opened.

"This seal..."

A sinister voice whispered.

"...will not hold forever."

"When I'm free, the world shall know pain!"

And thus began the legend of The Fallen.
