Preface
The world has a dangerous habit of judging people by the surface, and if you walked past Boyy Bear under the flickering amber glow of the North Main streetlights, you’d never see the threat coming.
He stands barely past my shoulder. At twenty-one years old, he carries the kind of delicate, porcelain baby face that makes strangers double-take, wondering if he’s just a pretty, lost girl in an oversized black hoodie. His hair is thick, dark, and falls in soft, wavy strands that brush against the nape of his neck, constantly spilling into his eyes when he ducks his chin. He doesn’t carry himself loudly. He doesn’t puff his chest out or try to play the tough guy in the streets. When people talk to him, he keeps his hands buried deep in his pockets, his eyelashes lowered, speaking in soft, hesitant whispers that make everyone instinctively want to shelter him.
It’s all a mask. The most convincing lie in Waterbury.
Behind that timid, fragile posture is a mind that watches, calculates, and memorizes every single breath I take. When the rest of the world turns away, those wide, innocent eyes shift. The softness vanishes, replaced by a razor-sharp, predatory hunger that borders on pure madness. He knows my routine. He knows the weight of my footsteps coming down the hall outside his door. And more than anything else on this earth, he knows about Mersaydees.
To the woman I call my wife, he is a shadow creeping on our territory—a silent, lurking rival she senses but hasn’t yet caught in the light. But behind closed doors, locked away in the suffocating quiet of his room while the city sleeps, Boyy Bear sheds the timid boy completely.
In the dark, he is unhinged. When he pulls me into his mattress, his grip isn’t gentle; his fingers dig into my skin like claws, burying his face against my collarbone, breathing me in as if he’s drowning. His jealousy is a living, breathing venom. He doesn’t just want my touch in the midnight hours—he wants to consume every piece of my life until there’s nothing left for anyone else.
This isn’t a game of flirtation. This is devotion pushed so far past the edge that the fall is guaranteed to hurt.

Yup he's definitely unhinged!

FIRST OF ALL, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST BL STORY!!! 🎉✨
Okay, I have to say, this preface definitely caught my attention. And knowing that this is your first time exploring the BL genre makes me appreciate the creative leap even more!
What immediately stood out to me was the introduction of Boyy Bear. You've created such an intriguing contrast between his delicate, seemingly innocent appearance and the much darker, more complicated personality hiding underneath. That contrast makes him a character readers will naturally want to understand better.
I also really liked how you established the atmosphere of Waterbury through the descriptive writing. The flickering amber streetlights, the quiet surroundings, and the unsettling sense of someone watching from the shadows create a strong psychological-thriller atmosphere.
And Mersaydees' presence adds another interesting dimension to the introduction. I'm particularly curious about how this complicated relationship will develop and how each character's perspective will influence the story.
As someone who enjoys exploring different genres and experimenting with storytelling myself, I genuinely appreciate writers who step outside their usual creative comfort zones. Trying a new genre can be an adventure, and your first BL concept already has its own distinct identity.
One thing I hope to discover as I continue reading is more about Boyy Bear's background, his motivations, and what lies beneath his understanding of devotion.
My advice? Keep experimenting, trust your imagination, and don't be afraid to develop your own storytelling voice. Every writer starts somewhere, and every new genre brings an opportunity to learn something different.
I'm wishing you the very best on this new writing journey, Terrex2004! May your first BL story become a memorable milestone in your author journey.
**From one Inkitt author to another, keep creating, keep growing, and never stop telling the stories living inside your imagination.** 🖤🌹
