A place for me.

As usual, I thought this afternoon would be quiet again. I usually love afternoons at home. It's quiet, there's no noise, and I can just lie down on the sofa in the living room while my whole family stays in their rooms, doing their own stuff.

My grandparents are taking naps since it's the weekend. Mom and Dad are in their room, and Ray and Aeri are in theirs. God knows what they're doing. Yeah, none of my business.

Boring day…

I didn't even know how to enjoy holidays. I always do this. When the holidays are over, I regret not doing anything. Okay, whatever. Let's just forget it. I can't change anything.

Suddenly, everyone came out of their rooms. It was already 4 p.m., and everyone seemed a little serious. God knows what was happening.

I was lying on the sofa when I suddenly had to get up and sit on a chair. Of course, the elders always got to sit on the sofa.

And then they all started talking about changing Ray's school.

Ray: “I think Starfall International School is good. I really want to go there. Their syllabus will help me when I get into university, and they have so many extracurricular activities too. It sounds fun!”

Dad: “Okay, if you like it there, then it's decided.”

Mom, Grandpa, and Grandma nodded. Suddenly—

Aeri shouted, “Me too! I want to join this school! I want to be with my brother!”

Mom: “No, Aeri. Ray is joining because it's better for his future. You can join when you move to the higher grades.”

Aeri had never been separated from Ray. They were always together, wherever they went.

Aeri suddenly started crying and even stood on her tiptoes, trying to convince them to let her join. And there I was, sitting quietly, not even knowing what was happening.

No one had asked me if I wanted to join.

Whatever. I'll decide what I want for myself.

Then Grandma stood up for Aeri. She told Mom and Dad that Aeri should join Ray too.

Then Grandpa looked at me.

I knew that even if the whole world forgot about me, Grandpa wouldn't.

He looked at me and smiled.

“You join too. Then all three of you can go together.”

Ray and Aeri nodded in agreement.

Then I started wondering. Should I join or not? Why weren't Mom and Dad saying anything? Did they not want me to join them? Would it cost more if I joined too? What should I do? Would my future be better if I went there?

My old school was okay, but it wasn't anything special. If I joined the new school, I thought there might be more opportunities for me too.

Yeah, whatever. Let's join and see what happens.

Then I told them I wanted to join too.

The admissions were completed, and suddenly, it was the day before my first day at the new school.

I went shopping with Ray and Aeri. They picked out their things.

I bought all my things in the same colour. I don't know why, but I just like having things in one colour. I don't really have a favourite colour; it depends on the item. And the lavender school bag was just so pretty, so I decided to get everything in that colour range.

We went home, and everyone went to their rooms. I ironed my uniform, and I even helped Ray and Aeri iron theirs. They didn't even thank me, never mind!!

Then I went to bed.

Oh, I couldn't sleep. I was so excited for tomorrow. I wondered who else would be in my class. Would I make friends? I hope they'll be nice to me…..

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel
