Chapter 1
In the heart of London, a magnificent two-storeyed house. Now home to newlyweds Rhea and Henry Rogers. Their marriage was a beautiful union of two different worlds, built on love, trust, and promises of forever.
Rhea Wilmort is an interior designer, Henry Rogers is a famous author. Their love sparked at Henry's book launch event. What began as a simple conversation about his novel soon blossomed into something neither of them had expected.
Rhea admired Henry's imagination, while Henry was captivated by her warmth, confidence, and the way she saw beauty in the most ordinary things.
Their friendship gradually turned into love. Henry knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. One day, he proposed to her in a park. She agreed to his proposal.
Admiration for each other has turned into a partnership.
One morning...
Rhea woke up late, around 10 am. She was very tired and looked around for Henry. He was nowhere to be seen.
"Good Morning, Rhea!!! I have gone out shopping. Will be back in an hour!" A sticky note was placed on Henry's pillow on the bed.
She got down from the bed, freshen up. Breakfast was already prepared by Henry, A toast with the freshly squeezed orange juice.
Henry returned to the house with the bags of groceries in his hands.
"Took you a lot of time?" She teased him.
"Yup" He replied to her.
...
"Henry, do you think this vintage necklace is costly?" Rhea asked him, standing in front of the large dressing mirror and tightening the necklace hook around her neck.
It is a two-layered necklace with a black stone in the middle, surrounded by a beautiful design.
It looked so beautiful on her, it suited her.
"Everything looks so beautiful on you. You outshine anything, my love," Henry winked at her.
She didn't look at him, but she was deeply engaged in her own reflection in the mirror.
"Rhea?"
She immediately turned towards him. Looking at him.
"What happened? Are you alright? I was calling you." Henry slowly walked towards her.
"Yeah, I am alright. I didn't hear you." She chuckled a little.
"No worries, it's already late. You have to sleep now. Otherwise, you will be late for work tomorrow. And this is your first day after the marriage. Don't get lost in your manager's good books" He helps her to unhook the necklace.
They both fell asleep later.
The next day...
Rhea went to the office early with the same necklace pairing the white cord set.
Something about the morning felt different.
At lunchtime, her phone vibrated.
Henry: "Have you had your lunch?"
"Not yet, Miss you :("
Henry: "Already? I only dropped you off a few hours ago!"
Another message popped up on the screen.
Henry: "Alright, I will make your favorite dinner tonight! Love you!"
She read the Love you sentence twice. Then again. Reading it in his voice.
Rhea smiled at the text, and she clicked on the Henry contact profile. Adored him before she went for lunch.
That evening, Henry was in the kitchen preparing dinner when Rhea returned home.
"You're early!" He exclaimed, wiping his hands on the towel.
"Can't wait to see you again." She walked straight into his arms.
"I missed you"
"I missed you, darling." He kissed her forehead. She held him tighter.
"Henry?"
"Hmm?"
"If I die, will you marry someone else?"
He pulled back slightly, amused by her question.
"Where did that come from?"
"In my mind, just answer me"
"I would rather spend the rest of my life writing stories about you and us. Rather than wasting my time on something else which is worthless and unnecessary to me" Henry smiled and brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
"The author never gets caught!" She playfully smacked at his shoulder and within a second, her right hand tangled forcefully into his left thumb.
"Sorry. I didn't realize, I was hurting you" She immediately let go.
"It's alright, love" He kissed her on the cheek and returned to the kitchen.
She got a little embarrassed by her creepy gestures and tried to calm herself.
It's okay, Rhea. Henry is your husband. We are married now. Everything is fine. I love him and so does he. Stop freaking him out.
Later that night, Henry was fast asleep beside her.
She turned towards him closely, "My poor Henry, I will never leave you" Out of sudden, she felt some warmth around her necklace that she is still wearing. The heat grew quickly, and she immediately unclasped it and kept it on the bedside table.
She was unable to sleep, staring at the ceiling. With the feeling of something precious she has lost recently.
