Chapter 1

A car black stopped near a tall glass building which shined brightly in the sunlight of morning.

A man appeared from inside the office immediately and opened the door of the car.

A man in black tailored suit came out of his car, his hazel eyes sharpened the moment he saw his office building.

Matteo Winslow.

"Good morning sir"

His assistant voice made him turn his head.

"Morning"

His voice was heavy, almost like it carried years of exhaustion beneath it.

Almost like he had many things to say but he never did.

Matteo walked through his office lobby and he ignored most of the people's morning greetings today.

"What's my schedule Felix?"

He asked his assistant for his schedule.

Felix immediately turned on his tablet and began explaining his busy day.

He listened while walking he opened the door of his office cabin and sat behind his desk.

Matteo’s cabin was large there was serval files in dark desk the floor to celling glass windows caught morning sunlight making his office cabin look more luxury. his coffee cup was already there for him.

Felix gave the tablet in Matteo's hand immediately.

He took a tablet, his eyes scanning through things once then he gave it back.

"Sir should I reschedule the landon clients meeting?"

Matteo's attention sharpened

"For what?"

Felix paused for a sec before answering.

"Sir I thought you would go on the business party tonight"

Matteo leaned back in his chair slowly.

He had almost forgotten about the party.

Today most famous businessmen, investors and executives were attending the same party.

He had agreed to go to the party before.

So now he didn't want to say no.

"Reschedule it "

His answer made Felix nod.

"Now get the me the work files"

Felix left the cabin and brought some files into his office after sometime.

Matteo took the file and Felix left.

Matteo's attention turned toward the glass windows of his cabin.

His eyes didn't rest on anything in particular his mind was moving through thousands of things.

His mind never stops. He sometimes wonders how people say being rich means happiness in life, how people ask him about his success and are thought that his life is simple and he is lucky to have it.

His gaze dropped.

He remembered something he shouldn't.

But everytime he tries to forget it he fails.

Faint blur images came to his mind.

Someone’s shouting.

Someone’s screaming.

Someone’s crying.

And someone walking away.

His jaw tightened.

You cannot erase memories from your mind completely. Whatever is bad or good your mind will remind you about it again on a random day.

Matteo hated it.

But he also can't do anything about it.

His breathing became heavier than usual so he searched for water glass which was on his desk.

He took a slow sip and made himself calm down.

He forced himself to get back to work , that's what did all these years.

When you can't forget it, escape from it for sometime.

And Matteo's work was his door of escaping something he avoided telling anyone.

Germany - berlin

The gates of a small cafe slowly opened and a girl came out in white soft printed dress.

Her wavy long hair was open moving in soft wind coming from outside.

She came out holding a small jug of water, a small smile resting on her lips as she started giving water to the plants .

One by one little by little.

When she finished she straightened and looked at her little plants.

Her smile softened.

An old woman came out from the cafe and stood behind her holding a stick to comfortably walk.

"Are you smiling again while looking at your plants?"

She glanced at the old woman and her smile widened.

"Yes and i think they are looking at me too"

The older woman decided not to argue with this girl and walked toward other plants.

She watched ira small collection of plants and after inspecting it she looked at her again.

"You will take all the plants with you?"

She turned toward the older woman and nodded.

"Yes Miss lina iam taking everything with me"

The older woman's expression became slightly worried.

"Ira i don't think you can take care of all these plants with your cafe.

She immediately nodded as if she had already planned everything and it would exactly work like she thought.

"Yes yes! I was waiting for this day for so long now that I own a cafe and I am moving toward my dreams. No one can stop me and.."

She moved her hands in exaggerated animated motions.

"One day I'll be the most famous woman in Germany just wait and watch Miss lina "

Her smile held nothing more than confidence.

The old woman rolled her eyes at her confidence but didn't say anything more then.

"May Allah bless you then"

On Miss Lina's words she bent her head slightly and took the blessings.

"Thank you granny"

The older woman hit her knees with her stick immediately at the word "granny".

"Don't call me that I am still young"

Ira nodded immediately and raised hands in surrender .

"Yes no doubts iam the only old one here"

Miss Lina walked away from the garden and she looked over her collection once again exhaling deeply.

She was thinking about shifting all things to her cafe now.

For a brief moment Miss Lina words came in her head about managing everything together.

She had said yes so now she will also have to work to make that yes true.

Before she could think more Miss Lina called her.

She kept her water jug on a nearby table and walked inside.

Miss Lina stood there offering a man chair while he politely refused.

He was tall and he had strange dark tattoos all over his arm which was visible because he was wearing a dark polo shirt.

Around his neck a stylish silver chain rested and his dark eyes shined.

She stood there quietly watching them.

She didn't knew karl very personally, she only knew him trough Miss lina.

He usually come to visit miss lina in cafe so she had talked to him few times but as she was never particularly interested in talking with him she didn't tried to push more conversations.

when Miss Lina told her to bring coffee for him.

She met the man gaze.

He smiled at her.

She looked away and she didn't want any stranger's attention, especially a man who looked like he came from a music band.

She made quick black coffee for the man and gave it to Miss Lina because she didn't want to serve him.

How is your mother Karl?

The guy name was karl.

She remembered a few days ago Miss Lina was talking about Karl winning the German cycling championship.

He was a good at it she knew as miss lina never stopped talking about him.

She tilted her head thinking about it when the guy's voice made her look at him.

"Yes she's fine now but doctor had told her to take rest in home strictly"

He sipped his coffee and for a while Miss Lina and the guy talked.

She returned to her normal cafe work.

When the guy finished his coffee and left with a few polite exchanges with Miss Lina.

She came to pick up the empty coffee cup from the table when she saw a small note resting there.

She picked up the note her eyebrows lifted almost immediately after reading the note.

"Welcome to Hamburg ira"

Her eyes windened at the message.

She lowered the note for a long moment and stood near the table thinking about Karl.

How did he know that I am moving to Hamburg?

She thought about it for some time, then she crushed the paper and threw it on the dustbin.

She didn't think about it much, probably miss lina told him about her during normal conversation.

She walked away toward garden again

She didn't ask Miss Lina whatever she told Karl about her.

she decided to let it go.

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel
