An Unexpected Beginning
Kaavya was an eighteen-year-old girl living in Delhi. She was the kind of person who preferred silence over unnecessary conversations, quiet corners over crowded places, and observing people over being the centre of attention. An introvert by nature, she was simple, reserved, and often lost in her own little world.
Unlike most girls her age, she wasn't particularly excited about making new friends or becoming popular in college. All she wanted was to complete her studies peacefully.
But little did she know that this new chapter of her life would bring people and experiences she had never imagined.
It was a bright morning in Delhi.
Kaavya stepped out of her house with her elder sister, Nita. Both sisters were heading towards their college to complete their admission formalities.
Their journey began at Kirti Nagar Metro Station, from where they boarded the metro towards Noida City Centre.
The metro was already crowded with students, office workers, and people rushing to reach their destinations. While Nita casually scrolled through her phone, Kaavya stood beside her, quietly holding the pole and looking out through the window.
"Kaavya, are you even listening to me?" Nita asked, glancing at her younger sister.
Kaavya turned towards her. "Hmm? What happened?"
Nita shook her head with a little smile.
"Nothing. You were lost somewhere again."
Kaavya simply gave her a small smile before looking outside once more.
After travelling for quite some time, they finally reached Noida City Centre. Stepping out of the metro station, the two sisters made their way towards their college.
Once they reached the campus, they completed the necessary formalities and filled out their respective admission forms.
Kaavya was entering her first year, while Nita was already in her second year.
Since their home was quite far from the college, travelling back and forth every day would have consumed almost four hours. Considering the distance, Nita had already applied for hostel accommodation.
So, after finishing their college formalities, the sisters headed towards the hostel, which was located a short distance from the campus.
All they needed to do now was find out which room had been allotted to them.
As they entered the hostel building, they noticed a large crowd gathered around a table near the reception area. Several students were standing there, eagerly searching through a list of room allocations.
"Come on, let's check ours," Nita said, adjusting her bag on her shoulder.
She made her way through the crowd towards the table, while Kaavya stayed a little behind, waiting for her sister to find their names.
Nita began scanning the list carefully, moving her finger down the page as she searched for their names.
Meanwhile, someone else had his attention fixed on Kaavya.
A boy standing a little distance away had been watching her for quite some time. His gaze followed her as she stood quietly near the crowd, completely unaware of his presence.
After a moment, he began walking towards her.
Step by step, he closed the distance between them.
Kaavya, still waiting for Nita, remained occupied with the room allocation list displayed on the table.
She had no idea that someone was approaching her.
Within seconds, the boy was standing right behind her.
Kaavya sensed someone nearby and slowly turned around.
To her surprise, a boy was standing directly in front of her.
She looked at him without saying a word.
For a brief moment, neither of them spoke.
The boy slowly leaned towards her, reducing the already uncomfortable distance between them.
Kaavya instinctively leaned backwards, trying to maintain some space between them. Her expression remained almost unchanged, but her body language clearly showed that she wasn't comfortable.
Yet, the boy continued leaning closer.
Kaavya turned her face slightly to the side and called out to her sister.
"Nita..."
Her voice was quiet, almost expressionless.
But Nita heard her.
The moment she turned around and saw the boy standing so close to Kaavya, her expression changed.
She immediately rushed towards them and pushed the boy backwards.
"Stay away from my sister!" she snapped, giving him a warning look.
There was something unusual about the way Nita reacted. It wasn't the reaction of someone confronting a complete stranger. Her eyes carried a hint of recognition, as though she already knew exactly who he was.
The boy didn't say anything.
Nita, however, wasn't interested in hearing an explanation.
She quickly grabbed Kaavya's hand.
"Come with me."
Without waiting for a response, she pulled her sister away from the crowd.
Kaavya followed her silently, occasionally glancing back at the boy.
She didn't understand what had just happened.
Who was he?
And more importantly, why had Nita reacted as if she already knew him?
For now, Kaavya had no answers.
But perhaps this wasn't going to be an ordinary beginning to her college life.
