The Hollowbrook Estate Inheritance

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

Kordelia's friends - Skye, Eliana, Hunter, and Asher - arrive at the Hollowbrook estate, eager for a weekend of relaxation and bonding, but the eerie atmosphere hits them like a ton of bricks as they step out of the car. Kordelia's been tight-lipped about the place, but they brush it off as nostalgia, figuring she's just stressed about something. As they start settling in, unpacking their bags and exploring the dusty old mansion, the atmosphere shifts. Doors slam shut without anyone in sight, creepy creaks echo through the halls like someone's walking just out of sight, and cold spots materialize out of nowhere, sending shivers down their spines. Initially, they attribute it to the old house's quirks - it's gotta be over a century old, after all - but as the weirdness escalates, they start exchanging nervous glances. And then, they stumble upon an ancient-looking photo tucked away in a dusty old album, and their blood runs cold: their faces are in it, grinning like they were part of some twisted family gathering. It's then they realize they're not alone in this big ol' house, and whatever's haunting the estate seems tied to Kordelia's family's dark past, a legacy she's been desperate to keep buried...

Chapter 1

Kordelia had been raised by her grandparents ever since her parents died in a mysterious car crash. She had no idea what secrets were being hidden from her at her family's estate in the small town of Hollowbrook. Her grandparents had uprooted them to give Kordelia a better life in the big city. A mere 15 years later, her grandparents passed away and left behind a house that she hadn't seen in over a decade...

15 years later

Kordelia and her friends decided to take a road trip to Hollowbrook for the summer.

Kordelia's P.O.V

“Guys were almost there."Asher yelled over the music as they drove into town, all the memories started coming back. ” This place looks creepy as hell.“ said Eliana " It's not it just has some character." Replied Skye looking at the towns people walk along the road side "You grew up here for how long Kordelia?” asked Hunter "I lived here until I was 10 years old then we moved to the city" I replied, he nodded as they made their way up the long winding road that led up to the estate. The dense forest around them making everything a thousand times more creepy. They pulled up to the gate looking up at the house at the end of the driveway "Kordelia, you have the key open up." Asher stated.

Kordelia slowly stepped out the car looking around and approached the gate wearily feeling an eerie presence, as she struggled to get the key into the rusted lock, Hunter snuck up behind her scaring her, as everyone in the car laughed at how frightened she looked. “what's wrong you!?” I yelled at Hunter hitting him in the shoulder. “I just came to see why your taking so long to get the gate open" he said laughing “well its not funny, and the lock is rusted. The key doesn't fit in the lock anymore.” I said rolling my eyes ”Step aside." He said ramming his body against the gate, nothing happened obviously but he, he walked away to the trunk of the car pulling out a crowbar, marching up to gate, after a few minutes of trying the gate lock finally broke off allowing us onto the estate.

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
