Prologue: How it all began.

The young Prince was conversing with a man at a table in the garden. They were surrounded by plants and beautiful flowers. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, making it a perfect day to be outside.

“Father, who is going to be the Alpha after you?" The young prince asked, and the King looked thoughtful, that is, until a loud noise was heard, startling both of them out of their chairs. Screams of terror, pain, and anger could be heard.

“My King we need you.” The King’s Beta sent a message through the pack link. The King and Prince turned into their werewolves and ran toward the realm gates, where all the commotion could be heard. Upon arrival, they saw their fellow pack members fighting for their lives. The Faeries had made their arrival. They were not there for pleasantries but to eradicate the werewolf species. Both the father and son joined the fight and fought for their pack. When the Faeries managed to break the barrier, the king turned to the prince by his side and said,

“Go and save your family.” The prince didn’t show any sign of leaving.

“No, I can’t leave you and my brothers to fight alone. I will fight with you until we become victorious.” The prince insisted.

“Your family needs you. The faeries have managed to break free, and they are in danger. Your brothers and I will be safe, so go and save your wife and children.” The King begged him, and the prince hesitated for a while before he turned and ran away from the gruesome fight, leaving his family to fight alone. When he got home, he saw his heavily pregnant wife and his four children coming out the door, looking scared.

“What’s happening?” His wife asked, fear evident in her voice. At that moment, the pack healer appeared.

“You need to leave. You need to protect that child,” she said, looking at the Wife’s belly, and the wife touched her belly. “He is the saviour. You need to run now.” She said before disappearing.

“We need to leave right now,” the prince said. He and his wife turned into their wolves, carrying their young children on their backs as they ran. They had no clear destination; they just kept running day and night until they stumbled upon a portal in the forest. It was in a heavily guarded area, and the prince was surprised they had even found it.

“What is this?” His wife asked.

“I don’t know, but we must go through it. If we stay here, they will kill us, so it’s better to just go through here.” The prince said, and his wife agreed. The children went through first, followed by the wife, and after checking that nobody followed them, the prince went through. They felt a strange sensation until they arrived in a forest. They had no idea where they were, but they walked around until they saw houses in the distance. When the Prince saw that they were in a different realm and safe, he felt the duty to go back to his realm and save the rest of his family.

“I think you are safe here. You can go to one of those houses and seek help. I must go back and save my family.”

“Will you come back?” His wife asked, and he nodded, giving her a kiss on the forehead.

“Of course, I will. As soon as I take my family to safety, I will come and find you and our children,” he said, kissing his wife’s belly and then hugging his children, promising them he would return. Then he left in the direction they had come and stepped through the portal. When he arrived, he had to run for days before reaching his realm, and upon arrival, it was eerily quiet. He saw his fellow pack members lying motionless on the ground—like something out of a horror movie—and he almost vomited at the brutality he was witnessing. He searched everywhere for his family—by the gates, in the palace, and in the forest—but couldn’t find them. He broke down crying, blaming himself for leaving them. Heartbroken and guilty, he continued searching, but as time passed, he realized there was no longer any reason to stay because they were all gone. So, he headed back to his wife and children.

Upon arriving in the realm where he had left them, he tracked their scent to find his wife’s whereabouts, and soon, he reached a beautiful home. When he knocked on the door, an elderly woman with long gray hair opened it and smiled at him.

“How can I help you?” She asked.

“I am looking for my wife and children.” He said, and the old woman smiled.

“Ooh, it’s you. Come in.” She said welcoming him into her home. The woman led him upstairs, where he could hear a baby crying. He hastened his steps, and when he went inside the room, his children were playing on the floor, and his wife was in bed, holding a crying newborn in her arms. He smiled with tears running down his cheeks. He went to his wife’s side and took his baby in his arms.

“Michael.” He said with the biggest smile.
