No One Is Coming

Chapter 1: No One Is Coming.

Elizabeth:

Pain. That was all I felt. A throbbing pain radiated through my brain like a hammer banging into my skull. My body jolted as my head bounced off something hard. Where was I?

My eyes fluttered. The bright light blinded me, I squinted them closed trying to get my bearings. Thud. My head whacked against that hard surface again, a pained groan escaping my lips.

Then it hit me like an explosion. The doctor, the pain. My body snapped to attention. All grogginess leaving me as my fight or flight instincts kicked in. I scanned the small area I was trapped in. The soft fabric felt familiar, but I couldn't place it.

When another bump sent my head into the top of the box, the realization dawned on me. I was in a trunk. A bloody fucking trunk. How the fuck? I pulled against my restraints as tried to wiggle free.

The way my arms and ankles were bound left me no room to move. I tried to slip free, using the cars movements to catch the restraints on something, but it was no use. I was discarded in this trunk like a doll.

We were in danger, and nobody knew. I thought back to Steph, the way I watched the doctor drug her. Is she okay? I tried to lift my head to see if she was with me, but I was alone. Nobody was here.

“Not alone.” A voice rang through my head.

I furrowed my brows. Who was in my head?

“It’s me, you idiot.” Athena barked at me.

I felt the tears prick my eyes as I began searching the trunk. The light in the trunk was blinding. It wasn’t dark like you saw in movies. They left the light on to blind me, to throw off my senses. I couldn't adjust to such harsh light in such a small space.

“Fuck off, Wolf... We need to get out of here,” I spat at her.

She paced in my head, her movements aggravated me more.

“I can help. Let me?”

I laughed a dry humourless laugh. Help? When has she ever been there to help me?

“Like you helped me the last... two times I was imprisoned?”

“That... that was different.”

She was right. We needed to get out of here, and I couldn't do it alone. I had to protect my babies. Our babies. Theo's face flashed across my mind as my heart dropped. Our special night... what would he think? Did he think I abandoned our plans? That I didn't want him, our bond to be completed? No, I needed out.

“What’s the plan?”

She began pacing, trying to decide our next move. She paced my head with desperation, leaving a throbbing headache in her wake.

“We need to know who we are dealing with...”

I laughed bitterly. There was only one person who was capable of pulling this off. I didn't need to find out, I already new. He was planning on taking me right out from under everyone's noses, and he succeeded.

“Jamie,” we both said in unison.

Just then the car stopped. A lump formed in my throat as I tugged on the restraints. Come on, I fought harder as I heard footsteps approaching. Time seemed to half, each step leaving me more anxious.

Before I could process another thought, the door to the trunk flew open. Rays of sunlight blinded me. A dark chuckle came from my attacker as I felt his hands grab my bound wrists. I couldn't make out his face, but the way his hands grabbed me made my skin crawl.

“The bitch is awake,” he smirked.

“Let me fucking go!”

He laughed as he pulled me into his arms.

“If you insist.”

Without hesitation...

I hit the ground. My stomach made first contact as a desperate cry left my lips. My babies.

“You asked.” He shrugged.

I could now see him...

My heart stopped. Staring down at me with those ugly fucking eyes was the man I least expected. Councilman Augusta Black. A low threatening growl slipped past my lips. He did this, why?

“You sick fuck!”

I tried to get to my feet, but he just threw me back to the ground.

“Stay put, mutt.”

I sat on my knees. I was fully surrounded by rogues. I tried to find a familiar landmark. Something, but it was no use. I had no idea where I was, or why.

“Probably on pack lands... I couldn’t cross pack borders,” Athena sighed.

“Fuck. Can you shift and kill everyone?” I begged.

“Nope. They gave you wolfsbane. I think we play the long game... let them put their guard down...”

I wanted to breakdown. I was exhausted. Athena wanted to stay, to find our moment, but I wanted out. Each second I am here, my babies are in danger, and I could not stand the thought of that.

I needed to live, for my babies. I thought of Theo, his blue eyes. I thought to Malcolm and his protectiveness. He was going to rip Black's heart out and feed it to himself. They will come for us.

But for now, I am here. I have one job, to keep these babies alive, and I will do everything in my power to succeed. Black was whispering something to his goons before he crouched down in front of me. He ran his hand across my cheek... Slow... Taunting.

“You have some lucky mates... You are even prettier now, glowing.”

“My mates are going to skin you alive.”

He laughed, a genuine laugh as he shook his head at me.

“You still don’t understand... You will never see them again. As far as they will know... you are dead.”

He turned to his men.

“Take her to her home... and watch the stomach... I need my children alive.”

My lungs burned as my scream echoed. I jumped up, trying to get to my feet, but my bound ankles prevented me. The swarm of men grabbed me.

I threw my head back, hoping to hit someone but they were ready for each and every move. There was no way I could safely escape now. I had to wait.

I went limp. My knees dragged against the ground as the men held my arms. They dragged me down the gravel driveway into the unknown.

I thought back to Black's words, he called them his children. He wanted my children? Why? What was his endgame?

My mind faded back to Theo, my protector, my rock. My body ached for him. I would kill to get a hug from him. To feel him hold me. To have all my worries melt away.

The tears pricked my eyes. I missed them. My mates. My mark began to burn at the thought of Malcolm. He was my other half, a part of me. I could feel him, but he couldn't help me. It was a level of helplessness I had never experienced before.

The sound of a lock clicking pulled me from my thoughts. My eyes widened in horror. As they opened the door to my crate, a fortress. One lock, than two, than three. Each lock left an unease deep in the pit of my stomach.

“No!” I began to fight, to get away. The men just laughed.

“You’re going to be a fun one to break.”

And with that, they threw me in, into my cage, like I weighted nothing. I rolled across the floor trying to untie my hands, to protect my stomach. My back slammed off the back wall. A cloud of dust flew through the air.

I Coughed out the dust as I tried to sit myself up. I was in a room, my dungeon. It was a home though, not an actual dungeon. It was a 12x24 room. A small toilet sat in one corner, a mini fridge and toaster oven with a microwave sat in the opposite corner. A mattress lay thrown against the floor effortlessly, a single blanket thrown on top.

It was a dungeon, disguised as a home. It wasn't a unplanned abduction. This was coordinated, prepared for. They were hunting me.

The thought hung heavy in the air. Was this always the plan? Was this my destiny...? I looked up to the sky. The tears now free-falling from my face.

“Moon Goddess... please... Please let me go home... I will do anything...” I whispered.

As if I expected her to suddenly appear. I knew it was no use. I was alone. My head began to feel heavy as my eyes started to close. The exhaustion overcoming me as fought the urge to close my eyes.

As I laid my head down, giving into the exhaustion, the sound of the lock clicking startled me back to consciousness. When the door opened, my heart stopped.

“Lydia."

Her eyes softened. I backed away, trying to put some distance between us. She betrayed me, she is the reason I am here. I hit my back against the wall as I shrunk itno it, praying it would open up and swallow me whole.

“Elizabeth, please... just stop. Let me untie you and make sure your babies are okay...”

My eyes narrowed.

“Excuse me?” I snapped.

“My babies were just fucking fine until you drugged me!”

Her body froze at my tone. My Luna tone clearly having control over her. She couldn't even go against a Luna tone, how did she achieve this? She was not capable of pulling this off.

“You don’t understand... He has my child... I have to make sure your babies survive till birth... then I will be reunited with my son.”

Her words shocked me, like a slap to the face. She wasn’t an accomplice, she was a victim. She was trying to protect her own baby. I dropped my shoulders as she stepped towards me. Could I really trust her? The woman who put me in this situation? She undid my restraints and I quickly began rubbing my sore wrists as she opened her hospital bag.

“What does he want with me... us?”

“I have no idea... I know about as much as you do.”

I dropped my head. I was fucked. My mates probably didn’t even know I was gone yet. I was in a crate, in an unknown pack with a psychopath who is a respected member of the council.

Just like that the realization hit me. This was my battle. I was alone, there was no one coming for me, and I have two choices. Give up or get out. I was getting out. I was going to save us.

For my babies.

For my mates.

For me. I would not fail this.

No matter what it takes...
