"At first, I wasn't sure this novel would be for me. Sure, it gripped me by the brain and heart and wouldn't let go. But I found Aries so abominable at first that it was only the protagonist and the mystery that kept me going. But then, a strange thing happened. Even as the mystery began to reveal itself, I stayed for the character development. And I'm glad I stuck with it. Because even though it was rough going at first and I almost gave up a few times, I enjoyed the redemption arc. A little part of me finds it hard to suspend my disbelief that redemption is possible. And it's important for readers to realize that a man this broken can't be fixed in real life. But in fiction, we long for that ideal. For that catharsis that comes from the good inside a person overcoming the shadow. So despite my initial trepidation, I would recommend it. But this book is NOT for the faint of heart. Some people may find it incredibly triggering as well. Be sure you're in a good, strong place when you read it and proceed with caution. That being said, it is a gripping, compelling read that kept me hooked from start to finish. "
