प्रोलॉग - You Asked For This
मैं ग्यारह साल की थी जब मैंने पहली बार किसी का कत्ल होते देखा था।
किसी फिल्म में नहीं। किसी स्क्रीन पर नहीं। असल ज़िंदगी में।
वह आदमी दो बार तड़पा और फिर शांत हो गया। उसकी आँखें खुली की खुली रह गईं, और किसी ने उसे ढकने की ज़हमत तक नहीं उठाई।
तभी मुझे पहली बार समझ आया: कुछ परिवारों में, मौत अंत नहीं होती। यह तो शुरुआत होती है।
वे खुद को Men of Iron कहते थे। इसे किसी प्रार्थना की तरह बोलते थे। इसे दूसरी खाल की तरह ओढ़ते थे।
उनमें से कुछ ने इसके लिए खून बहाया। कुछ ने इसके लिए कत्ल किए। कुछ ने ऐसे प्यार किया जैसे जंग लड़ रहे हों—और कुछ ने ऐसे प्यार किया जैसे वही मुक्ति हो।
मैंने उन सबको देखा। एक कोने से। एक गलियारे से। मेज़ के नीचे से, जहाँ किसी ने मुझे ढूँढने की कोशिश नहीं की।
मैंने टुकड़ों में सत्ता के बारे में सीखा: एक kutte का वज़न। Furnace में पसरा सन्नाटा। दर्द को चीख से नहीं, बल्कि इस बात से मापा जाता था कि आप कितनी देर तक खामोश रह सकते हैं।
उस वक़्त, वे मुझे नहीं देख पाते थे। सच में नहीं।
यह मेरा पहला सबक था।
दूसरा?
राक्षस हमेशा जन्मजात नहीं होते। कभी-कभी, वे बनाए जाते हैं। एक-एक टुकड़े से। एक-एक शब्द से। उन लोगों द्वारा जो आपका हाथ थामते हैं। उन लोगों द्वारा जो कसम खाते हैं कि वे आपको बचा रहे हैं। उन लोगों द्वारा जो आपको उनके जैसा प्यार सहना सिखाते हैं।
और कभी-कभी—कभी-कभी, उन्हें पता भी नहीं चलता कि उन्होंने क्या बना दिया है... जब तक कि बहुत देर नहीं हो जाती।
यह कहानी खलनायकों के बारे में नहीं है। यह खून के बारे में है। और आग के बारे में। और उस परिवार के बारे में जिसे आप राख के ढेर में बनाते हैं।
मुझे सब कुछ याद है। वे हिस्से भी जिन्हें मैं काश भूल पाती।

Hi Emerald,
I just finished reading your story The Dark Princess and I loved it so much. Your writing is amazing, and I kept thinking how cool it would look as a comic.
I really loved the scene in Chapter 3 where the princess discovers her dark powers for the first time the mix of fear and awe you described is so vivid. It is ideal for making a comic because the visuals of her transformation and the contrasting light and shadow would look stunning. Also, the intense confrontation in Chapter 7 between the princess and the mysterious stranger would make for a dramatic, action-packed comic panel.
I’m a commissioned artist, and I’d love to draw your story into a comic/manga. No pressure though, I just think your work would look awesome in comic form.

I seen this series when I was researching for another book ( I see a book advertised I go looking for the true author) and it catch my attention and after reading this. oh I am ready to get started. I don’t think I have read anything you have written so here is to the ride I hopped on so as the saying goes let me buckle and get ready.
