The Fight
It was a beautiful autumn morning. The crisp leaves fluttered about in the wind, broadly displaying their radiant colors as the cool breeze blew about. School was starting up again, and students began waking up, preparing for their first day back at school.
*BRRIIIIINGG* rang the alarm clock. Jeff rolled over. “Ugh, that stupid clock”. He got up and drowsily began to change. “Oh, dangit, it’s the first day of school!! I forgot!!” said Jeff, now a little more awakened. He began to quicken his pace as he quickly pulled on a t-shirt and some sweat pants. He then ran downstairs and poured himself some cereal.
“Good morning, sweetie!” said Jeff’s mom, who was now coming down the stairs. “Mornin’” said Jeff. Jeff’s mom frowned when she saw the Froot Loops floating around in his cereal bowl. “Honey, you’ve got to eat more than just cereal. A program I saw on TV a few days ago said that only eating cereal for breakfast will raise your blood pressure and may eventually cause overeating.”
“Whatever.” said Jeff. Jeff’s mom softened her tone. “Honey, I’m telling you this because I care about you, and I want you to be healthy”. “Oh brother, that same old line” Jeff thought. “Yeah, yeah, I get the point.”
“Jeff, I don’t appreciate this attitude,” said Jeff’s mom, who was starting to get a little aggravated, “This is not the proper way to treat your mother”. “Oh, so this is about you!” Jeff said sarcastically. “I thought this was about me, but no!! This was about you!!”
This made Jeff’s mom mad. “Jeffery Antonio Taylor, this is outright disrespectful!! I will not tolerate this. We will discuss this after school.” said Jeff’s mom firmly. “UGH!!!” groaned Jeff, just as the bus pulled up in front of his house.
Jeff stomped out the door. “What a freak!!!” Jeff muttered. “Can’t eat only cereal, gotta eat something else” he mocked. “Whatever. Only 5 more years and I can live my own life. She won’t be caring about my eating habits if I leave.”
