A New Light

"Don't worry, I'll be your one and only light. I will succeed for you," That was what he had promised.

However, he did not fulfil his promise. A year later, here he was. Standing tall and proud as the successful CEO of the new - and very famous - company, Zen. Zen was a company that innovated and created many new and different devices - from phones to watches, to laptops, and even TVs.

Of course, no one knew that all the hard work was not from him, but from me.

All those months, I had spent researching, analyzing, and negotiating with various companies. I had finally gotten a company to agree to sponsor the new company that he - my then-lover, Zenn - wanted to create. After around 10 months of hard work, it finally paid off. Zen was created.

I was so relieved that I ended up drinking myself to sleep.

Back to the present, Zenn was waving at his adoring and huge crowd. I was amongst them, cheering for him too.

"Zen forever!" People shouted from all directions. "Zenn, you are the best creator of devices in the world!"

I smiled, forgetting that it was me who did it all. "Zenn forever!" I joined in.

Zenn smiled warmly at his crowd, soaking in all the attention. With his good looks and 'smartness', he had become a popular male figure in the social circle in just a span of 3 months.

I, still naïve and young, was a full-on supporter of my lover and his company.

"I love you Zenn!" Someone shouted from the crowd.

"Yeah, date me, Zenn!" Another person shouted.

I looked around awkwardly, and realized that no one knew about me - Zenn's lover. "Uh...Could you please keep it down? I'm his girlfriend," I said hesitantly. Seemingly everyone turned and stared at me.

"Whaaat?" A girl with blonde hair stared at me, her jaw dropped.

People immediately started started shouting rapid-fire questions at me.

"When did you guys start?" "Where did you meet him?" Were common questions amongst those.

I sighed, not at all liking the attention. I turned to Zenn, and saw him glaring. At me...? What? I wondered why he looked so angry. "Excuse me," I murmured as I made my way towards Zenn.

He saw me coming, turned away, and left in a hurry. I was at a loss for words as I stared after him.
