Chapter 1
Chapter One: The Accident
The day that changed everything for 15-year-old Isabella started out like any other. She woke up early, ate breakfast with her parents and her 8-year-old brother, and got ready for school.
Isabella sat in the backseat of the car, staring out of the window as her parents chatted in the front. Her younger brother, Max, was asleep next to her, his head lolling against her shoulder.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash, and Isabella's world turned upside down. The car spun out of control, and Isabella felt herself being thrown around like a rag doll.
When the car finally came to a stop, Isabella's head was throbbing and her vision was blurry. She looked around frantically, trying to make sense of what had happened. Her parents were slumped over in their seats, blood streaming down their faces. Max was nowhere to be seen.
Isabella's heart raced as she finally realized what had happened. Her family had been in a terrible accident, and she was the only one conscious. She fumbled for her phone, her hands shaking, and dialed 911. The next few hours were a blur of sirens, flashing lights, and strangers asking her questions. Isabella was whisked away to the hospital, where she learned the devastating news: her parents and brother had all died in the accident. Isabella's world shattered in that moment. She was alone, without her family, and didn't know how to move forward.
In the days that followed, Isabella was in a daze. She couldn't believe that her family was gone. She was taken in by her stepfather, who she barely knew, and moved in with him and her 6 stepbrothers. Isabella couldn't stand the thought of being around them. She felt like they were trying to replace her real brother with themselves.
