My breath came out in ragged gasps as I stumbled through the dense undergrowth, my body aching from the relentless pursuit. The moon had disappeared entirely behind behind the clouds, plunging the foreign forest into a pitch-black abyss even my predinatural eyesight weaker than it should be. I knew I needed to find somewhere safe or I would end up dead. Every rustle of leaves, every distant howl sent shivers down m spine, but I refused to give in to the fear.
As memory of my failed challenge for the title of alpha replayed in my mind each moment a painful reminder of my shattered pride. The pack, once my only family after the car accident that took my parents the year I turned 18, had turned against me, their eyes filled with hatred and betrayal. I had seriously underestimated their thirst for power, and now I had paid the price. Alone and hunted, I'm left with only my wits and unyielding determination.
Just as I was losing hope I smelled something I had never smelled before an old and long dead but different. My wolf agrees with me and I head towards the sent and I soon find myself in a bizarre garden. A flicker of hope amidst the encroaching darkness I ran to the door and as I opened my mouth to yell and raise my hand to knock the door opens...
