Summary

[Book 3 of the Canterbury Tales] Albert Altham, Lord Canterbury, believes he has finally found happiness. He has a newly adopted son, a newlywed wife, and a comfortable seat in the House of Lords. That is, until a woman turns up dead at his wedding reception, with his best friend Lord Russell Margate kneeling next to her body and covered in her blood. Canterbury finds himself suddenly pulled into a swirl of rumours and royal intrigue. At its center is the murdered woman, who in life proclaimed herself to be Isabella of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, a distant relative from the royal bloodline of Queen Victoria. As he continues deeper, Canterbury finds himself in a maze - of intertwining royal families, of warring political ideals, and of hidden morals. He soon realises that the closer he gets to the mysterious woman, the less focused everything else becomes. Margate stands accused of her murder. And Canterbury must prove his innocence. But he may discover this is easier said than done. Many obstacles stand in his way, and some seek to destroy him for good. **Content Warning: Some bloody violence.**

Preliminaries

Oh, good, another classic whodunit. The last installment was a bit touchy even for me. As always, this part is to introduce the (new) cast members. The ones you know already (Lord Canterbury, Lady Daphne, Russell Margate, etc.) need no introduction, hopefully. So they won't be appearing in this part. If you want to see how I imagined them, I suggest looking back at Diamonds in the Rough, the first installment of the series.

Right, enough prattling. Here's the cast:

Sam Riley as Eric Blakely, Baron Crewe:

Elizabeth Debicki as Rowena Blakely, Baroness Crewe:

Emilia Jones as Philippa "Pippa" Blakely:

Kit Harington as DI Michael Irvine:

Josh O'Connor as PS Brian Gundersen:

Eva Green as Isabella Saxe-Coburg-Gotha/Ruzha Zhelov:

François Arnaud as Parvan Zhelov:
