New kid
It’s strange how many people can look past you, and not notice that something is wrong, maybe it’s because of a simple smile. My name is kahleesi and there’s a lot no one notices about me, even my own god damn family, I’m the glass child, everything seems perfect but, its not.
“Oww Johnathan, can you watch where you’re going.” Isabelle says as he rushed right passed her. “Sorry, maybe you shouldn’t be in my way next time. “Honestly can you literally drop dead!”
“Hey you two that’s enough, sit down, and eat your breakfast for the love of god, and where the hell is Kahleesi?!”
“Im right here.” I said to my mom walking down the stairs. I sit down at the table with my siblings that’s still arguing silently so my mom wouldn’t hear them, my dad is at the end of the table drinking his black coffee, and typing on his phone like he always does.
“Alright everyone dig in, we got five minutes, and i dont want to be late for work.” Mom? I said wanting to ask her a question. Kahleesie what did i just say, hurry up and eat so we can go. Honey can you get off your phone so-
“I know, i know, can’t you see I’m busy Vicky.”
Why do i even bother, all i wanted to ask if she could pick me up from practice, but i guess I’ll just find a ride.
We have all finished our food, our mom is now taking me and my siblings to school, while Isabelle (Izzy) and Johnathan talks about their birthday party that’s weeks ahead. “ you know maybe we should have a yacht party?” Izzy suggested. “ Hmh a yacht party is not too bad” mom join their conversation. “I guess, that’s cool with me.” Johnathan agreed with izzy’s great idea.
I put my head phones on because the last time I suggested something for their birthday they said i was lame, and i wouldn’t understand what they want. When it comes to their birthday, it must stand out, and scream that they are the perfect twins in the world. Me and my siblings never really get along, they were always more closer with each other, my parents favor them the most because they are their first born twins. Izzy has long straight black hair, green eyes, and tall like a model. Johnathan also has green eyes and is tall like model, every girl at school wishes to be by his side. Me, im not to bad looking, i get compliments here and there but, mostly because of my blue eyes. I know i don’t compare to them but, i like being different.
“Alright everybody out.” “Wait mom remember me and Vanessa is going to the mall after school.” Izzy said to mom as she’s getting out the car. “Oh okay my love, have fun i love you, Johnathan watch out for your sister, i love you honey. “ Alright mom i know.” Johnathan said getting embarrassed because everyone’s staring.
Mom drives off forgetting that she has another child. I’m use to it by now, i mean im not gonna beg her to say she loves me or for her attention, those days are over. As i make my way to class i hear my name. “ Kahleesi!” It’s Stephenie my bestfriend since the sand box. Stephenie rushes to catch up to me because we have the same first period.
“Hey girl, did you do the homework that’s due today?” Of course i did. I said answering her question. “ Okay good i need the answers, i didn’t get to start on it because Alex was over last night.” Mhm let me guess, yall had the time of yall lives getting freaky-
“Shush, someone will hear you.” She stops me from finishing my sentence blushing. We giggled as we entered our class. “ Who’s that?” Someone asked out loud. “ Listen up class we have a new student, so treat him how you would want to be treated, and welcome him with open arms.” The teacher said. “ New student, why don’t you introduce yourself.”
“Oh my gosh he’s so cute.” A group of girls whispered giggling.
It’s quiet. “ well aren’t you going to introduce yourself?” The teacher asked. The new kid sighed loudly with a stern look on his face, getting up.
“ my name is Roman.” Everyone one is shocked from his foreign accent. “ can i sit down now.” The teacher clears his throat, “ umm yes you may. Alright class let’s begin.”
Why can’t i stop thinking about this guy? I asked myself. His foreign accent, even his voice gives me the chills. He looks cold, i cant even see his eyes because of his dark black hair. Shit why cant i stop looking at him, he just seem so. He turn’s his head, and we locked eyes, it’s like he knew i was staring at him, its like he knew i was thinking about him. I turned away quickly looking down at my closed notebook, now i look dumb because im staring at a closed notebook. I opened it and grabbed my pencil trying to ignore the embarrassment.
“ Kahleesi?” The teacher called my name. Umm yes Mr. Swan. Everyone looks at me. “Can you come up and answer question number 12 please. He asked looking down at his book guide. I got up even more embarrassed, not because he called me to answer a question, it’s because Roman was looking at me, i mean everyone was, but him, his glare… it’s different.
I grabbed the chalk and started answering the question right away. Im good when it comes to school, i dont mean to brag but, im a straight A student. I always get good grades, mainly to make my parents proud and congratulate me. After answering the question i looked at my teacher to see if i can go back to my seat but he didn’t get the, “ can i go sit down im embarrassed” eye contact. Instead he went on about how im a good student, and how im a perfect role model to this school, maybe it’s because im in so many clubs and the leader of the cheer team. Oh my gosh is this really happening. I said to myself, starting to get a bit overwhelmed.
“ you may sit down now Kahleesi, thank you.” I walked over to my seat, but then i heard someone whispered teachers pet. I knew exactly who it was because it wasn’t the first time, i don’t care, i know they’re not bold enough to say it to my face.
I put my head down feeling like i was defeated Stephenie started rubbing my back comforting me. The bell rang, everyone got up to head to lunch, oh my gosh what a rush. I said to stephenie. “ It honestly looked liked you were blushing Kahleesi.” What no I wasn’t, why would i be blushing?” “Umm i don’t maybe because of, let me think, what’s his name, Roman. Girl i saw you looking at him. “ Okay for the record i wasn’t looking at him and i was not blushing.” “ What you were practically drooling.”
What no i wasn’t, shut up. I said as she laughs at me once again defeated. Can we just go to lunch.
As we are walking to lunch i told Stephenie that i was going to catch up with her because i wanted to put my books in my locker. The hallways are getting clearer, and i saw my siblings with their popular friend group walking to the cafeteria, Johnathan gives me the cold shoulder. I don’t talk to them during school, i guess they are embarrassed of me. If you’re asking why, I’ll never even know myself.
All of a sudden i bumped into someon, it felt like i just ran in to a wall. Not to sound dramatic but I literally collapsed on the floor. Looking up i saw him towering over me, we made eye contact again, he steps over me and kept walking like nothing happened. Can you believe this guy he didn’t even apologized, didn’t even ask if i was okay. I got up shocked, but little did he know he was not gonna get away with this.
