Summary

"Every heartbeat echoes a new chapter in our extraordinary tale. Little did I imagine that my narrative would execute a jaw-dropping 360⁰ turn. It all started with the mundane battle of keeping a bathroom door closed, only to unravel the mind-bending revelation of a long-lost twin brother. The pièce de résistance? Unveiling my unexpected lineage – turns out, I hail from a wealthy dynasty. Apologies to those who may misinterpret, but this revelation nearly overshadowed the fact that a formidable demon's reincarnation is relentlessly pursuing our powers. Oh, and did I mention a coven of witches has a lethal interest in our demise? Well, I did say 'almost forget.' I'm Ben Walker, and this plot twist is just the prologue to an epic adventure. _ _ Unveiling a new chapter every Sunday. Prepare your popcorn 🍿, dear friends – the drama unfolds!"

Prequel

The year 1692...

Destiny is one of the most unpredictable and uncontrollable thing, despite all efforts that could be made; it will always catch up with us, and Alice knew that.

So, despite her strong desire to leave this forest where the leaves of the trees seemed to wither as her tears, shining in the moonlight, dared to touch the ground of the altar, the urge to run and embrace her daughter, especially to hold her chubby little hands. But the silence, this silence was her last moment of freedom and... torture.

How could she not have seen that she was sleeping with the one responsible for the terror that now reigns among both humans and witches? Why did she let her love veil the one who revealed them to the world?

The last pillar of the forces of nature finally established, her watch held by a string of pearls on her wrist became her new tormentor.

11:45 PM

- But where are they go...

Her sentence hanging, she jumped up towards the place where the birds had decided to abandon their nests in the middle of the night, knives now levitating around her.

When one of the figures illuminated by the full moon finally showed its face, she instinctively threw one of the knives at the intruder.

- My dear, calm down, it's just us. Said an alto voice as she tried to make her way through a bush, tapping on the head of the young man whose head remained frozen vertically.

- Oh, excuse me, Rubi. She replied, dropping the knives. I thought it was him.

- How could he find us? Did you cast the camouflage and protection spells?

- Of course! But you know as well as I do that it will only delay him. She retorted, standing under the pillar of water.

- Let's stop hesitating and start the hostilities quickly, Alice. Said a deep voice, from the hollow of a perfectly trimmed white beard to the square shape of his head when he reached the pillar of earth.

Rubi and her brother reached the pillars of fire and air respectively. Alice, on the other hand, seemed to have detached herself from the present moment, unable to prevent her thoughts from swirling with the wind.

Hoping with all her being that her daughter could be saved in time by her brother, before the Demon realizes this deception, the threads of which were already being cut one by one without her being able to do anything...

- ...lice! Matthew shouted, realizing the power of his mistake at the same moment.

- What have you done, Matt? She said, now kneeling and trying to hide her red eyes full of tears.

- Please forgive me. We were trying to get your attention, and I didn't know when I called upon my powers.

- Fine... Let's move on to the spell; I feel him getting closer to us now at full speed. She said after a moment of silence before throwing the knives at them.

Then, with a final look and nods, some trembling, they began the spell.

- We, wizards of the elements: air, fire, earth, and water. They said in harmony before cutting the palm of their hands.

- We bind ourselves under this full moon to invoke the Midnight.

As their blood touched the buckets of their respective elements, a small tower with ruins began to rise under the moon, accompanied by a bubble that enveloped the altar, sending lightning in all directions.

And as they were about to continue the spell, the bubble vibrated, and they saw a shadow being propelled onto a tree.

- Don't stop, it's him! Said Rubi facing her worst nightmare.

- Gates of the other world, open, and may he whose our hearts reject be banished forever.

Seeing the door several meters high forming behind him, he approached the bubble, clumsily parrying the lightning that overwhelmed him, took out a dagger with a ruby handle, and made a tear in the bubble. His hands burned as he tried to find a way through the crack. However, as hard as he tried, he couldn't make it large enough to enter.

Nevertheless, his eyes had managed to find those of Alice, who remained frozen in place. From his blood-red eyes, he seemed to be having a conversation with her with every blink.

- Alice! Matthew cried, this time like a rescuing hand in the endless abyss that this ending brought.

A light vessel finally formed, connecting the small tower to the moon, which lit up beautifully. The gleam in her eyes announced the end of this chapter, and to let the last ink formulate its last sentence, she knew what she had to do.

With a deep breath, she dropped her last tear and stepped towards the vessel with determined steps.

- I love you! She said, turning to each of her friends before being carried away by the vessel that made her disappear instantly.

- Nooooooo! They said in unison. This wasn't planned. Rubi added as she dropped to the ground.

The color of the moon changed, now adorned with blue. An attraction began to be felt, and the Demon immediately understood that it was for him when the doors began to open.

Determined to fight to the end, he managed to reach out and grab Rubi who was a few inches away from him. She, disoriented at first, struggled and finally clung to Matthew who was trying desperately to cling to his pillar.

The cries towards Father Giles seemed to echo but still couldn't attract his attention. Kneeling, he couldn't tear his eyes away from the vessel.

Growing larger and larger, the attraction now lifted the Demon, and despite all the strength Giles could deploy to hold on, they were finally swallowed by the door, which closed immediately behind them.

The blue moon dissipated, the tower sank into the ground, and the forest darkened again. Silence had once again taken its place, and calm seemed to hover in the air again.
