Chapter 1
Bailey waited with her siblings and her mother sitting on a cold, steel bench she overheard her brothers talking,
“Fred want to pull a massive prank this year?” Asked George as they sat at the train station.
“Definitely.” Replied Fred with a huge grin, she stopped listening to her brothers scheming and watched Ron leave without a goodbye walking to Harry and Hermione, Bailey rolled her eyes and finally spotted her friends she got up.
“Bye Georgie! Bye Freddie!” She bent down to pull them into a hug.
“I’ll help you prank people just tell me the time!” She called over her shoulder jogging to her friends.
“Matteo, Theodore, Tom, Enzo, Draco, Blaise!” She yelled squeezing between the crowd of wizards and witches waiting to get on the train, they swivelled around to look at her.
“Bailey!” Said Matteo gleefully running to her, he pulled her into a hug and spun her around before putting her down.
“How was your summer?” Matteo asked as they walked over to the others keeping their spot in line, she held his hand walking over, the rough yet comforting touch of his palm brought back the memories of their last year in grade 4.
“Goodish, me, Fred and George pranked the order of the Phoenix, Mother threw a god dam heavy book at us for that.” She replied trying to rack her brain for anything else she did.
“How was your summer break?” She questioned knowing he would have something interesting, he always did.
“well you know I can’t stay with my father so I stayed with the Malfoy’s, snuck out to parties you know how it is.” He shrugged a they finally made it over to the others.
“Hey how were your summers?” She said putting her bag down and the crate with her dog in it,
“I was with Matteo I’m pretty sure he already told you though, but he didn’t tell you one thing.” A smirk appeared on Draco’s lips he opened his mouth again but Matteo gave him a cold glare warning him to shut his mouth. Matteo’s grip on her hand tightened then loosened.
“anyway I was at the skatepark practicing the trick you showed me, Bailey, nearly everyday.” Theodore said breaking the tension between Draco and Matteo, Bailey gave him a quick smile.
“did you eventually get it?” She asked and he shook his head in defeat and Bailey ruffled his hair with her free hand, Theodore ducked away to get away with a laugh.
“I was with these two idiots.” Tom said pausing to point at Draco and Matteo, Matteo gave his brother a charming look, Tom rolled his eyes in response “I did end up sleeping a little bit after they shut up.”
“Mr scary had a good holiday then?” Teased Bailey, Tom shot a look at her,
“your lucky your my friend” he retorted flicking her ear she chuckled, Blaise trying to be sneaky passed 10 galleons to Enzo she wondered what the two competitive teenagers had bet on,
“So Enzo? Blaise, holidays?” Draco demanded impatiently, Blaise shrugged and Enzo rolled his eyes, his eyes danced mischievously.
“What he means with that shrug was we went to the quidditch games and betted and he lost way to many times to me.” Enzo said with a grin and wiped his dusty hands on his shirt before slinging his arm around Blaise’s shoulder, Blaise shook it off grumpily and Bailey laughed.
“you can’t be grumpy just yet mister! The years just started!” She joked and Blaise smiled and ducked his head so his grin was out of sight.
“Fine.” He said acting like a sook for a few laughs, Draco tugged on Matteo’s shirt and signalled it was their turn to get on the train.
“Oi! Dumbasses it’s time to get on the train!” Ordered Matteo everyone followed after the two, Bailey slung her bag over her shoulder and sneakily unlocked her dogs crate and Bucky padded loyally by her side, the pitbull barely walked two inches away from her onto the train instead of being in his crate going with the luggage everyone patted Bucky along the way mostly first years no one snitched on her because Bucky was well known for being the only muggle dog allowed at Hogwarts, she trailed behind everyone into a compartment with the boys, Bucky flopped onto the seat next to her, Matteo glared at the dog before sitting down with Enzo and Draco on the seat across from Bailey while Tom and Blaise sat next to Bucky, Bailey dropped her carry on bag next to her feet glancing out the window she saw Molly, her mother and waved Molly smiled and waved back blowing a kiss. The train started and she went to reach into her bag grabbing her iPod and headphones the boys looked at the iPod with curiosity.
“What’s that?” Asked Tom eyeing it the boys waited for an answer.
“it’s a muggle thing it plays music me, George and Fred snuck out when we were grounded and went to the muggle world pretty cool actually.” She replied and Matteo raised his eyebrows
“What were you grounded for?” He asked and Tom murmured his agreement all the boys were looking at her now even Draco who was barely interested in anything.
“we kinda um took our dads flying car for a spin, Fred drove, it was a little scratched when we came back home.” She muttered not wanting to go into details,
“Woo!” Cheered Enzo throwing his hands in the air, leaning over for a high five, she smiled and high fives him.
“wait so you stole your dads car then crashed it before going home?” Snorted Blaise
“Precisely!” She exclaimed plugging her headphones into the iPod listening to the music the boys went back to their talking Bailey looked out the window as the trees and meadows flew past in a blur, she was thinking of a good prank then she finally got it she grabbed her journal and sketched the idea out, she drew the great hall and buckets of yellow paint over the Hufflepuff table so when the Hufflepuff house sat down they would trigger all of the paint buckets and they would be covered in thick yellow paint! It wasn’t a innocent prank but she would have to share it with the twins, Bucky hopped over and laid across her lap,
“Enzo take a look at this!” She said chucking her journal over to him, he looked over the sketch smirking
“ what do you reckon?” She asked stroking Bucky’s back the pitbull snored loudly,
“ we have to do this” said Enzo he threw it back she caught it and dropped it into her bag Enzo smiled mischievously he was like a big brother to her he did everything with her and was protective of her yet let her get in trouble, Matteo was talking with Draco, Matteo had always been her best friend since her first year of Hogwarts, Tom was more like a friend you could be mean to and no one got offended, then the train stopped they were finally at Hogwarts! Bailey changed into her uniform so did the boys then her dog followed her out of the train she dropped her bag in her dorm, she was unpacking with Willow and Freya this year great the most popular girls in the grade she unpacked her stuff into her wardrobe Freya glanced at Bucky
“ that dog better not make a mess of this dorm.” Snorted Freya and Bailey rolled her eyes and sprinted down the hall with Bucky trailing after her she barged into Enzo’s dorm he was sharing with Matteo, she flew through the air and landed on his Enzo's bed, Bucky sat on the floor knowing it wasn’t his to go on. Enzo didn’t look up from his bag but said
“time to get the paint?” Bailey glanced at Matteo who didn’t hear thankfully as they were trying to keep it a secret they bolted through the school to Hogsmeade buying yellow paint
“Good thing I betted with Blaise, Eh?” Chucked Enzo as they dragged all the paint back through the school they bumped into someone they turned around to see two tall redheads
“Just the people I was looking for!” Cried Bailey hugging them “look me and Enzo have figured out a prank just watch the Hufflepuff table,” she said they nodded and ran off into the great hall thankfully no one was there.
“now how are we getting the paint and string actually up there?” Asked Enzo gazing up at the wooden plank running along the great hall roof
“easy we climb!” Declared Bailey pulling two paint buckets onto her shoulders before climbing up a wooden shaft holding the roof up she balanced on the plank placing them down after a while they had finished they ran back to Enzo's dorm everything was set up
“where were you Lorenzo?” Asked Matteo he had unpacked his stuff and Enzo’s
“out getting a prank ready, you’ll see it later with the Hufflepuff at the sorting hat.” Replied Enzo doing yours and his handshake, Bucky wagged his tail he had stayed with Matteo
“Up Bucky!” Bailey ordered he leaped across the room to Bailey and jumped up, Bailey grabbed him pulling him into a hug in her arms, his back legs gripping into her torso, she kissed his forehead and he licked her face his tail spinning wildly.
“You were only apart for 3 hours!” Snorted Matteo and Enzo laughed beside Matteo, she slowly put Bucky back down as he sat beside her looking up at her. And she shrugged at Matteo’s question a letter flew into the room ‘time for the sorting hat, please come to the great hall’ the letter read out by Matteo and excitement burst inside Bailey’s chest as she and Enzo shared a secret grin as Matteo led the way, they bounded through the castle and settled down at the Slytherin table she saw her siblings, Ron stuffing his face with food, Ginny was smiling at Bailey, she returned the smile happily and Fred and George were watching the Hufflepuff table in anticipation there were a few empty seats that the first years would trigger when they got sorted into Hufflepuff.
“Silence!” Howled dumbledor his voice echoed through the hall as everyone closed their mouth, stopping their conversations and looked forward where the old man stood.
“let us sort the first years!” Mcgonagall yelled as she walked forward and called names.
“Miller!” She shouted, a young girl who looked shy slowly walked forward not meeting anyone’s eyes she turned her head a little bit and Bailey smiled comfortingly looking into each others eyes the blonde girl then raised her head and puffed out her chest looking at everyone as she sat on the stool as if she was daring anyone to challenge her right here, the sorting hat muttered loudly,
“Brave, caring should be a Gryffindor.” The hat grumbled Bailey knew her siblings would take care of her if she did go into Gryffindor.
“What this… Cunning, loyal..resourceful… ambitious, self preserved, a leader even under pressure better be…. Slytherin!” The hat yelled the Slytherin table cheered and the girl walked over to the table sitting where the first years sat. After a while one more Hufflepuff was needed to trigger the strings that would pull the paint down.
“Dandi!” Called Professor Mcgonagall a rather arrogant black haired boy strutted up.
“Caring, kind and loyal… better be Hufflepuff!” Bailey let out a deep breath thankful they were a Hufflepuff other wise the prank wouldn’t have worked. She watched as the boy sat down paint fell down from the planks the Hufflepuff table screeched with fury standing up in disgust, Bailey and Enzo wheezed with laughter so did all the houses except the black and yellow house.
“Enough!” Yelled Dumbledor furiously “Who pulled this stupidity?” Everyone stayed quiet they then looked at Fred and George.
“Fred and George with me now.” Said a lady dressed in pink Bailey stood up and glared at the lady
“It wasn’t them it was me!” She yelled the lady started at her everyone muttered wondering who she was this new lady.
“This is Delores Umbridge the new defence against the dark arts teacher.” Explained Dumbleodor Bailey left with Delores into a pink room with fake cats in plates meowing, Bailey sat down in front of the plump lady as she sat behind the table on her chair.
“you will write lines your line will be I will not do pranks.” She said sipping her tea Bailey picked up the quill, dipped it in the ink and hovered it over the scroll and without looking up she said
“ how many?” Umbridge stood up and towered over her
“as many as it takes to sink in I suppose.” She said in a sweet voice Bailey already hated this teacher, she started writing the lines over and over until her hand started burning she fidgeted her fingers still writing then something was engraved onto her hand I will not pull pranks was now cut onto her hand she gritted her teeth not willing to let out a cry of pain blood seeped down her hand the teacher looked at her in with no sympathy.
“You are free to go now.” She said a giving her hand a disgusted look, Bailey bit back all the insults she wanted to scream at this lady instead she pushed her chair back and got up and walked out heading straight to the bathroom trying to clean the blood off someone came in she looked up and saw Hermione.
“Bailey?” She asked not seeing her hand yet,
“not now Hermione.” She said still washing her hand she grabbed a hand towel and wiped the water off her hand.
“Did the new teacher do that?” She asked concerned, Bailey nodded and Hermione gasped
“we have to tell Ron he deserves to know.” She said already whisking away
“don’t he’ll go to Umbridge and get himself hurt so just drop it will you?” Snapped Bailey walking to her dorm Freya and Willow were in there and they gave a small smile
“good prank,” said Willow, Freya grabbed Bailey’s hand
“We’ve got to clean this properly let me guess you just used water?” Freya fretted and Bailey nodded confused, they pulled her into the bathroom she stood next to the sink Willow read what was cut onto her hand out loud
“I will not do pranks…. That bitch.” Muttered Willow, Bailey chuckled she stopped herself from flinching as Freya dabbed a cream into the cut the cream soothed the stringing pain, she then bandaged her hand.
“Thanks.” Bailey said “how do I repay the favour? Any boys you like in my friend group? I’ll get you and whoever they are close.” Suggested Bailey, the girls giggled and they all sat on Freya’s bed, Bucky was about to hop up but Bailey turned to him.
“No Bucky.” She ordered
“eh he can come on if he wants.” Said Freya patting the bed signalling Bucky up, he triumphantly leaped onto the bed settling in the middle of the circle, Bailey grabbed her lollies and beer from her bag the others looked at her in surprise as she glanced up.
“How did you manage to get these don’t they check the bags?” Asked Willow unscrewing the lid on her beer, passing a beer to Freya, Bailey shrugged
“I’m a Weasley I learnt from my brothers, A Weasley can do anything if it involves mischief!” Bailey boasted Freya laughed and Bailey handed out the lolly bags they talked for hours gossiping,
“Oo I heard Ruby is getting with Harry!” Said Willow, Freya wide eyed responded.
“No way a Hufflepuff and a Gryffindor? That’s going to look bad on Potter.” They all laughed.
“It would be an embarrassment to be in Hufflepuff.” Exclaimed Bailey
“mhm.” Added Freya after a while the other two had passed out Bailey changed into some comfy clothes

She then went downstairs to the boys dorm and creaked the door open to see Draco, Blaise, Enzo, Tom, Theodore and Mattheo sitting on the beds talking, she crept in behind the desks tripping over a bag she landed with a thump.
“Fuck!” She yelled the boys stopped talking and looked over to where she was hiding.
“Who are you?” Asked Theodore getting up starting to walk over to where Bailey was, she rolled onto her back and called.
“Nobody, fuck off!” Theodore then picked her up and threw her over his shoulder before throwing her onto the bed where he sat next to her, she laid down her head in his lap, her feet close to Enzo.
“What happened in detention with that teacher?” Asked Theodore lighting a cigarette
“eh not much bitch cut my hand and said I don’t do pranks anymore, like some tiny cut is gonna hurt me.” Snorted Bailey and Matteo got up
“she cut you?” He said a tint of anger in his voice
“it’s not like it’s that bad.” Muttered Bailey everyone had stopped their conversation and looked at the argument about to take place.
“Show me.” Ordered Matteo and she glared at him
“No fuck off you don’t order me around or tell me what to do.” She argued and he forcefully grabbed her wrist and took off the bandage.
“Dude get off her!” Yelled Theodore shoving Matteo backwards Enzo had also gotten up now and stood beside Theodore, Matteo looked at her dead in the eyes.
“If anyone comes to you with a threat - any threat at all you come to me.” He snapped she opened her mouth to argue but he cut her off
“I don’t give a shit if it’s Voldemort, you come to me, you tell me, you tell me everything. That’s what goddam loyalty is.” Bailey stood there not knowing what to say she shook her head and pushed past Enzo and Theodore, purposely shouldering into Matteo as she went past and left the dorm she heard the boys yelling at each other as she left slamming the door shut she went back to her dorm and called for Bucky leaving she walked through the castle and saw Harry, Hermione and Ron, the orange haired twin looked at her as if he knew she shot a glare at Hermione as she walked past. Accidentally bumping into a few Ravenclaws that the Slytherins beat in quidditch they turned around
“Oi watch it.” Snapped a tall, muscular one and Bailey already pissed retorted
“you watch it fuck face.” She saw Bucky standing by her side. The Ravenclaw boy threw his hands in the air as if he was angry but Bucky took it wrong and lunged locking his teeth into the boys arm.
“Get it off! Get it off!” Screeched the Ravenclaw and Bailey forcefully grabbed her Pitbull by the collar and pulled him off her friends already rushing to the commotion, professor Dumbledor, Professor Snape and Professor Mcgonagall were standing around there Mcgonagall already taking the Ravenclaw boy away.
“How could you do that? Why would you do that?” Cried Bailey as she sobbed into Bucky’s shoulder kneeling as her voice cracked. Bucky realising what he had done wrong he gave her a look saying ‘you were in trouble and I was protecting you…’ Mcgonagall gently tabbed her shoulder.
“I’m sorry but Bucky has to be…” Mcgonagall whispered and Bailey let out a sad, outraged scream and Matteo and Theodore stood beside each other looking at her a tear slid down Matteo’s cheek as Theodore dropped to his knees and grabbed his head with his hands.
“No no no…This wasn’t meant to happen! This wasn’t meant to happen we can still fix this. We can still fix this please!” Cried Bailey and quickly she took to her feet with Bucky at her heels as they ran Dumbledor yelled for her to stop but nothing could make her stop if she could get away and save her best friends life from being ended.
