Prologue
The night shrouds the city in darkness, while the club is bathed in a kaleidoscope of lights and sounds. The music pulses through the air like a living being, its electrifying beats filling the room and bringing humans, vampires, witches and other shapeshifters to life. Thousands of beings move to the rhythm of the music, each in search of a moment of ecstasy, a moment of freedom.
People don’t know which creatures they are celebrating with here, but that’s not important now.
The sounds of the night are like a maelstrom that sweeps me away, transporting me to a world beyond space and time. I stand in the middle of the crowd, surrounded by strange faces and pulsating energy, and yet I feel at one with everything that surrounds me. The music circulates like an invisible ribbon that connects us all, drawing us into a hypnotic dance of the senses.
Felix smiles at me, this gentle, fragile smile, he is like an old friend, an ally in this endless game of the night. His smile promises endless adventures, unforgettable experiences, and I can feel my heart beating faster at the thought of all the possibilities this night holds.
The people around us give themselves completely to the music, their bodies merge with the sounds, their movements become a single harmonious symphony. Felix also enjoys the music, his movements are supple and powerful at the same time. He is a king on the dance floor, a master of the rhythms of the night. We shouldn’t be here, we shouldn’t be here together, because it won’t be forever, we know that, but we enjoy life - the here and now.
I close my eyes and let the music carry me, the pulsating beats flowing through my body and numbing my senses. It is a feeling of freedom, a moment of ecstasy that I feel more intensely with every breath I take. The world around me blurs and for a precious moment I am one with the music, one with the whole universe.
Suddenly I feel strange hands on my hips, strong yet gentle. A shiver runs down my spine as I slowly turn around and look into the eyes of a stranger. His gaze is intense, penetrating, and I feel the heat of his passion as he holds me as if he never wants to let me go.
He is tall and muscular, his black hair shines in the light of the dance floor and his eyes are like two stars in the night. I can feel his breath on my skin, warm and seductive, and my heart beats faster at the thought of all the possibilities this encounter holds.
His hands take my face between them and I close my eyes to enjoy the moment, the intensity of the moment that connects us. Our lips meet in a passionate kiss that makes us forget space and time and transports us to a world beyond all worries and fears.
Time seems to stand still as we lose ourselves in this moment of passion, as we explore and discover each other. It is a dance in the twilight, a play of the senses that captivates us both and draws us deeper into the darkness of the night.
But as fate would have it, the rhythm of the music changes and the moment fades, disappearing into the transience of time. The sudden sound of running water breaks through the hypnotic atmosphere between us. Wild fountains shoot out of the installations and spill over the floor, while the people around us jump up in confusion and stare at each other. The water glistens in the spotlight like diamonds sparkling in the dark.
Felix grabs my arm and energetically pulls me away from the stranger. His hand is firm but gentle as he leads me through the crowd. One last glance over his shoulder and I see the fire in his eyes, the glowing heat of his anger, and yet I am drawn to the almost luminous gleam in his eyes.
The stranger, he would have liked to spend more time with me, more time in this magical moment that brought us together. But fate has other plans, and the music plays on, unimpressed by the turmoil of life.
The sounds of the night envelop us like a warm blanket, comforting us with their familiar melody, while the world continues to turn inexorably, like a wheel that never stands still. In a few hours, the plane will take us back to the other end of the country, back to everyday life, back to the routine and boredom of life.
And while the world keeps turning and life takes its course, I hold on to this moment, because in this moment I am alive, I am free, I am - myself, and nothing in the world can ever take that away from me.
I am now.
