Chapter 1

The noise became deafening, as she banged on the door of her brother’s room. He opened the door and yelled “no!”

“It’s not fair,” she yelled back. “It’s not fair you get an Xbox for your birthday, and you won’t share it.”

The door slammed and opened.

“You want to use my Xbox, but it’s too late. It’s time for school.” He walked out and gave her a nuggy on her hair.

“Toilet breath!” she yelled.

“Perm hair!” They walked down the stairs into the kitchen. On the table was a note. Please make yourself waffles.

“I talked to dad,” Mark said. He said “I could wash dishes on Wednesday and you can wash them on Friday.”

That’s not fair. I wanted to watch my show.”

“Daddy’s word,” Mark said.

Kimberly sat trying not to listen to the little giggles. She twirled her hair with her finger, trying to pay attention to her work. It’s the first day of school. Maybe this year will be different. A piece of paper fell on her desk. She opened it, and the picture showed her with big thighs. No, not this year either Kimberly wanted to cry, but instead she threw the paper at one of the girls.

The teacher, Ms Fiche asked, “Whose paper is this?” No body answered.

She took the paper and said, “Who ever writes anything like this again will go down to detention. Do I make my self clear?” The girls said “Yes.” After school, Kimberly wished her mother would pick her up. Instead, Kimberly walked home by herself. Kimberly opened the door. She thought she had come home to an empty house. She popped a chocolate donut into the microwave, removed it, and sat down to watch a newsmagazine program. She heard footstep upstairs. The telephone rang. She asked Mark to get it.

“I’m drying my hair!” Mark yelled back. She went to answer the phone. It was a telemarketer. She hung up and sat back down.

“Dad left a note here on the kitchen table to pick the weeds!”

“What about you?” Kimberly asked.

“I have a lot of assignments.”

“So do I.”

“That’s your problem.” He slammed the door. She banged on the door. “Why don’t we share the weeds?”

“I have a big assignment.” She went down stairs into

the back yard and pulled weeds muttering, “He’s such a doofus. I don’t want dad to come home yelling and screaming about the weeds. My brother is such a jerk face.” She finished pulling the weeds getting a spot on her blouse. “Ohh!” she yelled. She went upstairs to her room and she took off her blouse and changed into a pearl knit blouse. She looked with yearning at some Twin magazines. “I wish I could go with him. He is so cute. I wish I could fit into this dress. I could only dream.” She heard her father come home. He gave her a kiss on the cheek. I’m going to bed. She heard the door close.

“How is weed killer?” Mark asked.

“Shut up. Dad went to bed I’m going to bed too. After I wait for Mom”

“Fine,” Mark said and closed his door. Kimberly sat watching TV until she heard her mom come in.

“Did you have a good day?” she asked her daughter.”

“Not so good.”

“I had a tiring day to. Mommy’s tired tonight. I have to work the earlier shift, Good night. You should go to bed too.” She could hear foot falls up the stairs.

Kimberly heard knocking at her door. “You are going to be late no brainer.” She grabbed her lime blouse and pulled it over her over sized body. She headed downstairs into the kitchen and grabbed some pancakes. She ate them and grabbed her backpack and went out the door.

In the lunchroom she sat eating a hamburger. Someone threw a Jell-O at the back at her blouse

“Who did this?” she accused through tears. The more she cried, the more the kids laughed. She ran outside the lunchroom. She sat in the stairwell and cried.

On her way home, she saw her brother on his bicycle. “Nice spot doofus.” He rode by laughing. She came into the house and ran upstairs, fell on her bed and cried, “I’m fat. Everybody knows it. I’m fat. Even to die- for Paul. “He doesn’t even know about me. My life sucks.” She heard her brother’s thrash music. She changed her lime blouse and put on a rose blouse. She ran across to her brother’s room and banged on the door. He opened the door. “Turn down your retarded music.”

“No! “

“You better. “

“Or what?”

“I’ll crank my 98 degrees singing group until you can’t get them out of your head!”

“Ok, fine I’ll turn it down.”

“I need a vacation! she yelled. She stamped down the staircase into the family room. She stared at the computer. “I wish I could go on a vacation but not looking like this. I could only dream.” Where should I go? Mexico, the Bahamas, Walt Disney world. Maybe if I look at some literature. She got on the Internet. “At least I have that.” She checked out some packages. “How about the Caribbean?” My cousin talked about how she went there. I wish I could go, but Susan could go. I can have a character Susan with her rock hard body take a trip to the Caribbean. How should I start? Do I just start the beginning of her trip?”

Susan climbed the hard banister looking at her mother and father. “Its nice Dad’s firm let Dad have a vacation. Susan climbed higher. She watched as her mother smiled down at her and caressed her hand. They reached the top at last. . Susan and her athletic parents could have taken the elevator, but they liked to exercise. The bellhop handed her father the key. Their luggage were waiting for them. Susan wondered what room they would get. She couldn’t wait to go swimming at the beach. She knew her polkadot bikini would fit her just perfect. She even heard there were activities for ten -year –olds. The bellhop showed the family their room. It was a stateroom with an extra room for Susan. Susan jumped on the bed. This will be the best vacation ever. She watched as her parents started to take things out of the suitcases. She walked up to both her parents and gave them a big hug then looked outside their picture window. She stared at the coastline. She couldn’t wait to go down to the beach. She asked jumping up and down, “Can we go.”

“It’s early yet. I think we can go. Don’t forget the sun tan lotion,” her father said. They made it down to the beach. Susan ran into the blue foamy surf. She giggled as she jumped on her father’s back. She saw her mother back stroke by her. On the sand her father helped make a sandcastle and then let her bury him lying down up in the sand. He came out pretending to be a monster. She screamed and giggled.

“Are we really going to meet pirates on the pirate’s tour?” she then asked

”Arrr. It is true.

“This is great daddy. This is the best vacation ever.”

“It’s time to go down for dinner,” Susan’s father said. They changed their clothes and went down into this big dining hall.

“Look at all the food,” Susan’s dad said. Seafood, steak, soups, and salad and even chicken nuggets for my little nugget.

“Oh daddy,” Susan said a little embarrassed. They took their food to one of the many round, tables and sat down. She dunked her chicken nuggets into ketchup. “There is so much food,” Susan said with awe.

“Enjoy it. “Remember we’re on vacation.” Susan’s dad said. “We are really going to have a fun time.”

“We sure will. “

After dinner Susan and her family went back to their room and looked over all the literature about activities

“Tomorrow’s the Pirate Tour and the next day, kids go on their own Odyssey.

“I’m so excited,”

“Look at how she read the literature at ease. Our little eight grade reader. I’m proud she is ahead of the class.”

The family hugged each other.

What are you doing?” Mark asked.

“None of you business.”

“Well I got an assignment so get off.”

”I will in a minute.”

“Now. I need the computer.”

“I just want to save it.” Mark pressed a bottom and the screen went blank.

“I didn’t get a chance to save it.”

“You’re the one who said it wasn’t anything.” She slammed her hand really hard into his arm and walked out.

Hi, Lunapuresoul. Thank you for reviewing my story. I recently went into the story and fixed spelling mistakes. Just knowing the story itself pulled you in makes me feel like I accomplished what I wanted with the story. Right now, I am strapped financially. Making it into a comic book or graphic novel sounds intriguing. Let's see about revisiting the idea in the future.
