Preamble
The story combines past and present. Some characters are not described or named. This is intentional and (hopefully) adds to the suspense.
There are some BDSM elements and some views that are really outdated and don't match the author's views. Some chapters are marked "warning" because they are quite brutal and could be triggering. You can read these chapters if you want, but you don't have to to enjoy and understand the rest of the story.
But remember, you have been warned ;)

Sicily and Palermo are real, of course, as is the beach where a hot rendezvous takes place. And sea urchins are actually found off the coast of Sicily. Everything else is made up, so please don't go looking for hot springs.
