The Song They Sing

In the hollow chambers of his mind, the boy treads a shadowed path, clasping hands with despair. The Voices, like spectral threads, whisper, coil, and intertwine—echoes of a troubled, delicate soul. Once a fortress, now a breached castle, he cannot elude their cruel symphony, a haunting wrath.

"You're worthless," they hiss, relentless foes who never procrastinate. Their venom seeps through fragile veins, corroding hope. As darkness blooms like summer flowers and withers like autumn leaves, he clings to sanity, caught in a tempest of tormenting refrains.

The voices mock his dreams, unravel hope's thread, rendering faith futile. Each syllable becomes a blade against his chest, a thorn in his path—the faded beauty of a rose. Yearning for silence, elusive solace, he battles unbidden guests.

Gazing into the abyss of his soul, fractured mirrors reflect despair, shattered by their piercing tone. Their harsh chorus consumes him whole, drowning him in whispered air—a distasteful rhythm. The boy, once vibrant, now a mosaic of fractured emotions.

Yet somewhere deep within, a flicker remains—an ember of resilience and fight. He endures the strains, seeking solace in dawn's feeble light. Pictured him standing on the precipice, the horizon painted in hues of redemption. The sun, a golden brushstroke, smears warmth onto his weary face. Shadows retreat, and hope unfurls its wings.

But alas, the boy stumbles. His steps falter, and the abyss yawns wider. The Voices crescendo, their symphony relentless. Despair wraps around him like a shroud, extinguishing the last ember. Dawn's feeble light fades, swallowed by the void.

He collapses, a broken note in the dissonant melody. The fractured mirrors lie shattered, reflecting only emptiness. No masterpiece emerges, no wildflower pushes through the cracks. Only echoes remain—the cruel whispers of a soul defeated.

And so, in the hollow chambers of my mind, the boy dissolves into shadows. The Voices claim their victory, and the castle crumbles to dust. The world spins on, indifferent to his silent descent.

For sometimes, even the most fragile ember cannot withstand the relentless night.
