The Thunderbird vs. The Phoenix
I can’t believe it! I am getting Sahrahsahe back for killing me the last time and I am getting my fire gem back! I don’t understand why he just doesn’t return it! It’s MINE!
Why in the stars would that damn Thunderbird want a fire gem anyway?! What use could he have for it? He is made of thunder and rain! The exact opposite of fire! Yes, he has lightning, but he will never use it against me. It won’t work! I have spent the last 500 years trying to reclaim what is rightfully mine!
I retract my beautiful fiery red wings and land gracefully, changing into my alternate form. This time I’ve come back as a 16 year old girl. I am pale skinned with hair black as the night and eyes blue as the Nile, and glared at Sahrahsahe.
If I was a regular 16 year old girl, I would admire his strong stature and silky black hair that trails down his back. His eyes are dark mischievous brown orbs and his skin is deeply tan. I would love to just look at all his muscles as he is only wearing a pair of jeans…
But I won’t! He has a big enough head as it is!
I see that look in his eyes. He knows exactly what I’m thinking and is more than happy with my reaction to his body. Who does he think he is, able to read my every thought! That is not allowed! And also… how did he learn that? Must be a new trick…
“Akila,” he smirks at me. “Long time no see,” he chuckles, rocking on his heels, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
“And whose fault is that, Sahrahsahe?! You killed me last time, and this time I am going to get you back for my last death, along with my fire gem!” I shout at the arrogant deity.
“Akila, why can’t you just let me keep it? It’s pretty…” he fake pouts those luscious lips at me. Why does he have to have this effect on me every single time?
I vibrate in frustration. “What in all the stars do you need a fire gem for anyway? You are the opposite of my fire! You are rain and thunder! I just want what is mine!” I yell at him, charging toward him.
I shove him on his bare chest trying to get my point across… I can feel his thunder running through his whole body as he just chuckles at me. I try not to notice how soft his skin is and how I want to spend my time running my fingers all over him.
“I knew you could not keep your hands off me, Akila,” he whispers, wrapping his arms around me pulling me up to him. “You know we were meant to be together!”
Why does he keep saying that? It makes no sense to me!
“No, Sahrahsahe. We were made to be enemies! Why else would we be made of fire and water?!” I grumble at the young beautiful man before me, who is still wrapping me in his strong arms.
“No. Not enemies. We were made to complement each other! And I will not return your gem to you! It’s mine and it will always belong to me and no other!” He begged me as he shook me by my shoulders.
“Damn it Sahrahsahe! I need my heart back!” I yell frustrated at him. Every single time for the last 500 years he has kept my heart from me! And every single time I die trying to retrieve what must be mine!
I don’t want to go through this again! I just want my heart returned to me. He has no need of it!
Suddenly I burst into flames, completely frustrated with this situation, and spread my red fiery wings out, ascending to the sky and screeching out with my battle cry.
“Please, my love. Not again! I don't want to do this again!” Sahrahsahe begs me again. I know he doesn’t. Every single time he has killed me it looks like I am killing him instead. I know what he wants… But I just can’t! It makes no sense to me… How can we be together when we are so different?
“Stop this Akira! I can’t keep doing this! It’s killing me,” he groans, gathering the dark thunderheads around us. The wind is picking up and swirling around us.
However I give no heed to his plea and fly straight for his heart.
I don’t know why I keep doing this. I know exactly how this is going to end, and it will take another 10 years for me to regain my next form. Why am I like this? Why must I always do this?
“I’m sorry my love,” he grumbles his thunder through the sky, manifesting his heartache, and with his tears the rains come down.
He spreads his magnificent body and transforms into his true form. A beautiful blue bird that calls the thunder and rain around him, the one who holds my heart.
And just like last time, before I can reach him, he puts out my fire.
