Prologue: The Legend of Lumina

In the earliest days of Palethea, the world was a place of pure light and boundless life, ruled by Lumina, the Goddess of Light. Lumina’s radiance was the source of all harmony, nurturing the lands and ensuring that life flourished in every corner of the world. Her light brought balance, and under her watchful gaze, the forces of nature lived in peace.

Among those who lived under Lumina’s protection were the Umbraens, a noble and ancient clan known as the Keepers of Shadows. The Umbraens were entrusted with a sacred duty: to maintain the delicate balance between light and darkness. For in the shadows, there was not only fear but also the potential for growth, and Lumina understood that darkness had its place in the grand design of the universe.

The Umbraens served Lumina faithfully, using their powers to safeguard the world from the dangers that lurked in the darkness. They were guardians, protectors, and stewards of the balance between the forces of light and shadow. The death seal, a powerful tool granted to them by Lumina herself, allowed them to control and guide the forces of darkness, ensuring that it did not overwhelm the light.

But as time passed, a great tragedy befell the world. A mysterious force, unknown and unseen, sought to disrupt the balance that the Umbraens had worked so hard to maintain. This force, driven by malice and envy, sought to corrupt the Umbraens, twisting their noble purpose into something dark and terrible.

The Umbraens fought valiantly against this corruption, using all the power at their disposal to protect the world and uphold the balance. But the mysterious force was cunning and insidious, and it slowly began to turn the people of Palethea against the Umbraens, whispering lies and sowing seeds of doubt.

The people, once grateful for the protection of the Umbraens, began to fear them. They saw the death seal, not as a tool of balance, but as a mark of death and destruction. The Umbraens, who had once been revered as heroes, were now shunned and reviled as harbingers of doom.

Heartbroken by the betrayal of those they had sworn to protect, the Umbraens retreated into the shadows, where they continued to carry out their sacred duty, unseen and unappreciated. Lumina, weakened by the mysterious force and unable to protect her loyal servants, was forced into a deep slumber, leaving the Umbraens to carry on alone.

Yet, before she faded, Lumina spoke a prophecy—a promise that one day, her light would rise again, and with it, the true nature of the Umbraens would be revealed. The prophecy foretold that a mortal, marked by destiny, would awaken Lumina from her slumber, bringing an end to the corruption that had tainted the world and restoring balance to Palethea.

And so, the legend was passed down through the generations, a tale of light and shadow, of loyalty and sacrifice. The Umbraens, aware of the prophecy, have lived in hope for the day when Lumina’s light would pierce the darkness once more, revealing the truth and bringing about a new era of peace and harmony.
