Prologue

Mariana

Luiz took a step closer to me. His powerful frame towering over mine, his chest pressed against my back felt like electricity was coursing through my veins. We were to the side of the ball room, I could feel everyone’s eyes on us, on me.

Luiz leaned down, his mouth right next to my ear “What was that back there?” he asked, his voice sounded rough, like he just woke up but I knew the difference. He was mad and I knew exactly why

“What was what?”

“Don’t play dumb with me Mari”

I loved it when he used that nickname. A name only for him. His hands landed on my hips, I could feel the roughness through my dress before he spun me around, pulling me to his chest. The scent of woods and smoke filled my nose as I took a deep breath

I stared into his eyes, that looked dark with anger and hunger “Do I need to show everyone here who you belong too? Do you need a reminder of whose last name you wear?” Luiz’s voice held a tone that promised pain if I answered wrong. He tilted my head up, our lips just an inch or two apart “I think you do” he muttered before pulling me into a searing kiss

I had to fight back a moan as his tongue slipped into my mouth. His tongue is hot and heavy and makes me think of things that aren’t appropriate to think about right now. My hands traveled up his shoulder to the back of his neck but before I could mess up his neatly styled hair, he pulled back

Biting my lip, I held back a whimper as Luiz smiled at me before looking over my shoulder and smirked at who I can guess was Antonio

“What do you say we get out of here and get back home? Then I can show you who you really belong to,” Luiz suggested. I couldn’t even speak so I just nodded and grabbed my clutch allowing Luiz to pull me to the exit not caring for the glares I can feel on my back
