You are sentenced to ten years in prison for the murder of your husband due to an affair with his best friend.

July 27, 1975

"Oh, you’re finally here," said a young woman around 30 years old. It was Marlene Beyer, the wife of the famous businessman Henry B. With passion, she kissed the man who had just arrived. They had been having an affair for quite a while, and no one suspected it, as their residence was secluded, meaning the gossip of old ladies was ruled out. Of course, they were careful not to be affectionate in front of servants and other employees of Mr. B. But everyone there was so clueless that they could have been openly affectionate without a problem.

In reality, Henry himself was clueless. In fact, he was also rather lonely. Henry was an older man, in his sixties, and so old that he moved slower than a snail and preferred to talk only about snails and his spa visits. All concerns, therefore, he shifted away to this man, who was the unofficial boss. But he still wasn’t officially in charge, and that annoyed him greatly, as well as Marlene, because she loved wealth and this man. And so, the idea came to them.

Today's meeting wasn’t just about a romantic rendezvous; it was also about plotting a murder. They deliberated over it until they devised a plan that went something like this...

Plan Outline

1)Let Victor in through the window

2)Take the largest knife from the kitchen

3)Invite the unsuspecting servant - blindfold him

4)Invite Henry into room

5)Victor and Henry ,playing pocker,

6)Murder + knife placed with the unsuspecting servant

7)Tell to servant to wait + close the door, clean everything up

8)Call the police

In the eyes of the two, it seemed like a very good plan. Viktor and Marlene agreed on Friday, as it seemed the most advantageous.

They did everything exactly as they had planned. Everything went perfectly, right up until step 4.

At this point, Viktor broke down mentally. Suddenly, the thought of murder overwhelmed him, and while preparing the poker game, he had to sit down for a moment because he was seeing spots before his eyes.

If only he could still walk away from this, but he couldn’t. Marlene was about to arrive with the knife and the servant, and Henry too.

"Talking About Wolves, and One’s at the Door"

At that very moment, there was a knock at the door, and Henry walked in.

“Hi!” he greeted Viktor warmly, which nearly broke him. Viktor felt like confessing everything, but just then, Marlene arrived with the servant.

There was no escape now; the show had to go on. About ten minutes later, Marlene tied a blindfold over the servant’s eyes. Of course, he knew his eyes would be covered—he didn’t know why, but he had been bribed, so why question it?

Marlene picked up a knife and began to walk slowly toward Henry from behind. When Viktor saw this, his hands started trembling, and his mind was flooded with racing thoughts.

‘We can’t do this, she’s insane! I have to stop her!’

With that final thought, he made his decision.

But it was late...

Henry's head hit the table,

then everything quickly spiraled, leaving no time to catch a breath.

Marlene threw the knife aside and covered her mouth in horror. This prompted the servant to rip off his blindfold and look at the corpse. Before he could process the situation, he was gone. Viktor couldn’t hold back anymore; he grabbed the knife and…"

“You are sentenced to ten years of imprisonment for the murder of your husband due to an affair with his best friend,” the judge proclaimed the sentence that Marlene didn’t even acknowledge.

It was the servant who called the police because, after Viktor’s suicide, she fainted. And so, she got what she deserved.

And so it should be; after all, why else would they say, 'those who want more end up with nothing.'
