Chapter 1: The Convoy

In some facility....

We see a man in a futuristic armor set approach a man in a red robe.

?: “Dr, she’s in.”

The man in the red robe turns to him.

Dr. ??: “Finally.”

He paces around.

Dr. ??: “It took longer than expected, but now..we control the law. They’ll be coming to pick up their shipment tonight. They’ll think it’s mainly an upgrade to keep them safe, but it is merely the footstep in our plan.”

?: Then, partner, I’ll prepare my guards to make sure we don’t have any uninvited guests.”

Dr. ??: “Wonderful”

The man with the armor walks away.

We cut to a young black man with cornrows leaving an office. He’s in business casual attire, sporting a white button up shirt and generic office pants and shoes.

?: “Later Dwayne”

Dwayne: “Later. Let me get out of here.”

Dwayne hops into an old looking car, a 1987 Buick regal. He flips through some papers.

Dwayne: “Ugh, therapy tomorrow again. Cause Dwayne is just crazy right? Anyway, off to the bar.”

He drives down the road until he arrives at a classy looking diner and bar. He gets out and approaches an elderly man in a brown trench coat and hat sitting down outside the building.

Dwayne: “Hey Detective J.”

He sits down across from him.

Detective: “Hey lad.”

Dwayne: “Got any new intel?”

Detective: “By intel, you mean office drama?”

Dwayne: “Same ting.”

Detective: “Well, the usual kid. Murder, gang violence, mysterious disappearances-”

Dwayne: “Oh my favorite. I’ve always been a sucker for those mystery shows on tv. And what’s the department doing?”

The detective takes a sip of his coffee.

Detective: “The usual I guess. Not like they’re actually gonna investigate unless we actually find a clue. Normally we assume the victim is dead within about 36 hours of the disappearance if we have no lead. If you asked me, that’s just being lazy. As for outside of cases, I haven’t noticed anything strange. Though, there are convoys that run back and forth close to midnight.”

Dwayne jolts up at the mention of this.

Dwayne: “Convoys?”

Detective: “Well, you know I work late due to the increased crime rate. So often I see them run on a weekly schedule. I don’t know where they go and the chief won’t tell me.”

Dwayne: “That spunky gal who somehow runs the force?”

The Detective nods his head.

Detective: “As young and immature she may seem, she’s one badass cop. I see why they’d choose her. But lately I’ve been seeing some of the officers dawning some strange futuristic armor. I’ve been curious about this myself but since the chief shut me down, I’m definitely not getting much info.

Dwayne: “When’s the next convoy?”

Detective: “I don’t know. But I suggest you don’t get directly involved for your safety. I don’t think they’ll keep it a secret much longer. But, society hasn’t advanced that far.”

Dwayne: “I think you’re worrying too much. I used to climb fences and trees whenever my parents used to take me to their homeland.”

Detective: “I don’t want you doing something rational. Remember yo-”

Dwayne gets up.

Dwayne: “Yeah, Dwayne’s batshit crazy according to everyone. Detective, I don’t want you to risk your job.”

Detective: “Just listen to yourself Dwayne. This entire thing could be a whole misunderstanding.”

Dwayne: “Even if it is, I need answers and one way or another I’m gonna get them.”

Dwayne begins to walk towards his car. The Detective stands up.

Detective: “You’ve done some crazy things in the past and each time I have to bail you out.”

Dwayne: “Trust me, everything’s gonna go to plan.”

Detective: “What plan? You don’t even have much information. For all we know, those convoys could just be prisoners, government shipments...think of the other possibilities.”

Dwayne: “That’s the fun part, solving the mysteries and figuring out clues isn’t it?

Detective: “That’s not how we-”

Dwayne hops into his car and begins to drive off

Dwayne: “Later Detective Johnson.”

Dwayne drives off down the road while the detective watches him.

Johnson: “Lord, I hope that boy doesn’t have any crazy ideas. His head isn’t in the right spot already.”

Dwayne drives to an apartment complex and parks outside. He goes up the stairs to the second floor, turns his key and enters. He grabs a large bottle of alcohol immediately, opens it and smells it. He then takes a sip and laughs

Dwayne: “That sweet coconut rum. I’ll be back for you after my night on the town.”

Dwayne occupies his time with other antics until night time. Once it’s night, he climbs to the rooftop of his apartment and scopes out the city. Coincidently, his apartment, being less than 5 stories, was located on a hill where he can see the city nearly clearly from the top of the building.

Dwayne: “Lets see. Convoy..convoy...convoy...ah.”

Dwayne from afar spots a group of blue and red flashing lights. He can’t directly see what the convoy consists of but he knows for sure that it’s them.

Dwayne: “Oh this is so exciting.”

Dwayne runs down back to his apartment and grabs a 6 shot revolver from his drawer. He also grabs a modified apocalyptic plague doctor mask.

Dwayne: “The corp nor Johnson better know I still have this. I’m still sane enough to know how to use this.”

He puts on a holster and conceal carries his weapon. He then makes his way to his car. He puts the pedal to the metal and drives to where he saw the convoy. At this point, Dwayne has perhaps broken most traffic laws in the state of California. Nonetheless he fears not the consequences as he blairs his way down the mainstreet until he sees it. The convoy consists of 5 bikes, 4 cars and a large box truck. He follows behind them at a distance.

Dwayne: “I can’t wait to tell the detective.”
