At The Roots Of All Deeds

In the land of Four Corners the quietest night was about to begin.

On this night the Everseason tree began to shine brightly in the pitch black night.

It’s light was a beacon at the centre of the four territories that divide the land.

This signalled the beginning of the annual ritual.

Each of the four tribes would now prepare their offering.

A great hero, now passed, would be laid to rest at its roots.

Their oldest tradition.

Before the Everseason tree the four domains knew only war and famine and death.

Then one day, the Virtual One came down from the heavens in protest.

He claimed he would unite the four corners of the world.

He promised he would end suffering.

Though he did not succeed in his lifetime,

His dream lives on in the Everseason tree.

As the Virtual One laid his body to rest,

Where the four corners meet,

The Everseason tree grew overnight,

Casting its shadow and its light over the world.

Every year it demands an offering.

An offering of a fallen hero.
