Eating disorders and what they stem from
Eating disorders are probably a sign of an underlying mental illness that may be Anxiety, Depression, or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder more commonly known as OCD or many more. Eating disorders are most common in ages 12-25. Eating disorders can stem from a negative body image or a want to hurt themselves. People in ages 12-25 rely a ton on other people’s thoughts so if anyone does like they way they look the person will most likely try to change themselves.
If any parents are reading this even though your kids might be mad at you for a while, I highly suggest that you go through their texts and social medias and make sure there is no cyber bullying going on and if there is make your child cut that person out. They might brush it off and think that the person bullying them is just joking around because they’re “friends” but real friends would never talk about them that way ever and even though your child will act like its just fine I guarantee that those comments will take a hit on your kids mental. Even though they might be mad at you at first I’m positive that as they get older they will be happy that they had “embarrassing overprotective parents” instead of having parents that don’t care about what happens on their phone and if they are brave enough to tell you that they have an eating disorder don’t tell them that they are just looking fir attention because there’s nine out of ten percent that they aren’t. So don’t try to be the cool parents and don’t add one more person to to 10,200 people that die from eating disorders yearly.
