Prologue
It was a beautiful morning, with the sun shining brightly and birds chirping their sweet melodies.
Andrew lay in bed, his messy hair covering most of his face, giving him the appearance of a cute baby.
However, his peaceful slumber was disrupted by the blaring of his alarm clock, reminding him of his busy schedule for the day.
As he woke up, he stretched his arms and yawned, a smile spreading across his face as he remembered that he had to pick up his wife, Scarlett, for her check-up.
She had been staying with her parents for a few days, and he was eager to see her.
With renewed enthusiasm and he met his dad, who noticed the spring in his step and asked,What happened, son? You seem quite happy today.
Andrew's smile faltered for a moment as he ran his fingers through his hair nervously. 'Actually, I was leaving to pick Scarlet up for her routine check-up,' he replied.
His father's face lit up with a warm smile. 'Oh, that's great! So finally, you're accepting her and her love for you? You know she likes you very much, right?' Andrew grinned, his eyes sparkling with amusement. 'I know, Dad, she told me before leaving.'
His father's eyes twinkled with knowing glints. 'And I guess you have started liking her too, right?' Andrew looked at his father, his expression a mixture of surprise and sheepishness.
'I'm not sure, Dad, I mean, she is everything I wanted, but she is very shy, you know.' His father chuckled, his voice filled with playful teasing. 'It's okay! It's just the starting point. Now, you should leave before she changes her mind.' Andrew nodded, his smile widening and left for her home.
The morning sun cast its golden rays upon the sleepy town, unaware of the tragedy that was about to unfold. Andrew had arrived at Scarlett's home, eager to start their day together. But Scarlett was running late, as usual.
"Come on, Scarlett! We're going to be late!" Andrew's voice echoed through the phone.
After what felt like an eternity, Scarlett finally emerged from her front door, accompanied by her father. They exchanged quick goodbyes before Andrew and Scarlett set off.
Hours passed, and the tranquility of the day was shattered by a frantic phone call to Andrew's father.
"Mr. Andrew has been in an accident," the voice on the other end said, panic evident in every word.
Andrew's father rushed to the scene, his heart racing with every passing second. What he saw would haunt him forever.
Andrew lay unconscious on the pavement, his car mangled beyond recognition. Scarlett was still inside, her seatbelt tangled around her head, her eyes frozen in a permanent stare. The back of her head was drenched in blood, her airbag eerily still.
The questions swirled in Andrew's father's mind like a vortex. Why was Scarlett's airbag not deployed? Why was Andrew outside the car? And why did it seem like more than just a mere accident?
As the truth began to unravel, one thing became clear: nothing would ever be the same again.
But was it really just an accident? Or was something more sinister at play?
