Chapter 1
She punched the last drunk man in the face before removing her hair from her face saying “If you love your life next time you won’t touch a woman like that again”. She just saved a girl from these four drunk men who were trying to force her. “Go home safely,” she said and walked away from the girl patting her head. It wasn’t like she didn’t feel sad for the girl or didn’t console the girl but saving her was enough for both of them.
She just needed to go home to her little brother right now who must be hungry waiting for her. He never eats without her. She was walking fast not knowing someone was watching her. And that person might turn her life upside down.
She was Mia Fernando, Fernando, the surname that gives her an identity, the surname that reminded her that she had parents once and it tells her that she and her brother were not like other children they were left alone the time her little brother was born not even getting a chance to be named by their parents let alone have a surname. For her, her surname holds bitter memories, memories of how their parents left her along with her brother who barely even knows about his own identity completely.
It reminds her how they starved on the streets. Hearing her brother crying out in hunger she sat there helpless. Every time she used to think about what happened to her whenever she walked back home.
She felt a car following her since the moment she left the girl. It was somehow creeping her out. Knowing how to defend herself there was a difference still between a drunk man and a sober man especially when he knew to fight.
No matter how much good she fights, she is still a girl. Beating that four men was easy as they were drunk.
She finally gathered the courage and turned to face the car. The car also stopped in front of her. The car window rolled down revealing a handsome man with sharp features dark aura surrounding him. It was the most luxurious car that she ever saw till now.
But what the man did, left her shocked. And flustered. This kind of thing never happened to her, she had no experience of how to react to them. The man just winked at her and drove away at a high speed.
Her eyes were wide open at the creepy man’s actions “What the” She looked at the disappearing car, shook her head, and continued her journey. Now her home was just five minutes away.
“Sami!! I’m home!!” she shouted as soon as she went inside the house using the spare key. In no time, her brother came running towards her, hugging her. “You’re late, and I’m so hungry,” he complained.
“Sorry buttercup got caught up in work, come on let’s eat” she poked his cheek heading towards the kitchen thinking what she should cook and will be fast.
She cooked pasta and placed the plates in front of him and herself. “You know, sis, we have a color day in our school, and everyone will have to wear all black. But they will have to bring our favorite toys too, too. I don’t have one, but it’s okay.” Even though Sam said he didn’t care, but she was his sister, she caught the hint of sadness in his voice.
“Have you done your homework?” she asked to divert his attention. “Yes and in today’s test I got full marks,” Sam told her happy about his achievement.
“Good boy! Now let’s put you to sleep” Mia took the plate away from him seeing him finished eating. “But I want to talk” he whined “I know but I came home late and you have to go to school tomorrow” She kissed his cheek and the poor boy got up having no other choice.
“Good night and sweet dreams” Mia laid down beside him with his head on her one arm and other hand fingers running through his hair. To Sam, she was no less a mother. The other one couldn’t sleep. The salary she got from her work hardly made two ends meet and fulfilling his every wish this what she also wanted to do but couldn’t.
And Sam got matured earlier than his age. He never asked for anything whenever he wanted something he would keep it to himself and never pressured his sister for anything. This might be something he wanted that’s why he said it.
And then she also fell asleep with her brother cuddled close to her.
Next Day,
“Come on your bus has arrived, Sam!!” She shouted at him packing his lunch. “I’m here!” he said kissing her cheek and putting the lunch in his bag. “Take care!” Mia waved at him who sat in the bus smiling at her.
She sighed and went back inside. She did the dishes and cleaned the house lastly she opened the cupboard taking out a box which she used to save money. Taking it out she counted the money and it was enough or maybe enough to buy him a toy.
Today was her off so she was lazily doing everything. Whenever she came out of her house all the cars she saw it was her dream too to have a car at least only one like theirs but her brother’s studies and everything were more important.
Again she felt like being stalked but shrugged off thinking it was something she misunderstood. No doubt she gets tired like hell by walking from her home to the market and her workplace. It wasn’t like she couldn’t take a cab but again saving money.
She entered the toy store. And went towards the cars section. Sam loves cars they always fascinate him. She saw a black remote-controlled Ferrari. She picked it up and turned around only to bump into someone, she looked up to see the guy from the last night.
He was somehow intimidating, she apologized and moved to pay for it but stopped by his voice “Well we met again”. She ignored and went to the cashier to pay “Well I was talking to you and don’t you think it’s rude to ignore someone who tries to talk to you?” he raised his eyebrow at her but still, she chose to keep her mouth shut.
This man was creeping her out no matter how attractive he was. “Well, so I will get to the point, you fight amazingly and we need a female fighter so here I’m offering you a job will you accept”. Mia finally turned around and spoke, “No thank you”.
He smirked in return when his men surrounded her “Look I’m asking you nicely” he said but she scoffed at him not interested.
“Two million dollars per month what do you say?” He raised his eyebrows at her and she was shocked to hear him “Who the hell pays this much salary” she thought.
“We pay this much salary” he answered her like he read her mind. “Do you always go around seeing people fight and the next day offer them a job?” she asked.
“No, but you should feel honored that I came to hire you, otherwise people die to see me, this is my card I give you two days to think about it” he placed the card in her hand and left the shop.
Mia kept looking at the card. “I would accept it if I was in your place” Mia looked up to see a woman standing near her. She let out a long sigh and kept the card in her pocket.
That card wasn’t only offering her a job but also the reason her fate was changed.
She only had to say “Yes or No” or did she have any option?
