[THE YEAR IS 2012, THE ENGLISH TOWN IS THE CENTER OF THE MESS OF A CIVILIZATION AND HOUSES THE BEST CLINIC. THE REMAINS OF HUMANITY SUFFERS FROM A HORRID PANDEMIC; THE PURPLE PLAGUE. THERE IS NO CURE AND IT DIVES THE WORLD INTO A LIMBO OF KNOWING NO ONES LIFE IS GUARANTEED.]
[THE 4TH FLOOR IN THE CLINIC IS HECTIC, DOCTORS DRESSED IN WHITE COATS AND PURPLE SHIRTS, RUNNING AND RUSHING AROUND IN A FAIRLY MODERN LOOKING OFFICE AREA. DESKS LINE THE WALLS WITH OTHER DOCTERS WORKING AND TAKING CALLS. ON THE FAR CORNER DESKS IS NOTICUS AND MONTY. THEY SEEM FAIRLY LAYED BACK AND BORD. SLOWLY WRITING INTO REPORTS AND FILES.]
(THROUGH A NICE PANNING OF THE WORLDS PROBLEMS. NOTICUS'S MONOLOGUE WILL PLAY OVER IT.)
NOTICUS WIERAK- I’m a doctor in a clinic working for something called the Purple Plague. It’s destroyed our society. People started dropping in alarming numbers with more alarming symptoms. I am a simple guy, who works on files, so I’ve never seen the symptoms for real. But they sound horrific. People coming in like their being strangled by their own lungs, their lips, hands and legs turning a horrid pale purple. But rumors say the symptoms of death could be a source of nightmares only gods could not cry after. [PAUSE]
Well, I think the gods are dead!
[NURSES AND DOCTORS GASP AND CAUSE A COMMOTION BACKING AWAY FROM ANOTHER DOCTOR WHO NOW CHOKED AND SQUIRMED IN AGONY ON THE FLOOR. NOTICUS ONLY STARES. UNFAZED BY THE MERCILESS PASSING OF A CO-WORKER.]
NOTICUS WIERAK- We’ve had a few plagues in the past. However, they tend to stay in one country or be easy to cure. Only ever killed a couple hundred. Honestly… I feel like that was just the higher ups trying to restore faith into the people. This pandemic however…
