Summary

"You have two options: Either I kill you, here and now, and let you die like the rest of your demon kind... Or you can join us." "Become a Hunter," she says. "And I will help you find the woman you seek." "It is the best option for you, devil, considering the convenience of your... cannibalistic trait." A cannibal. An amnesiac. A Stygian Devil. He has no memory of who he was before, save for his name, and the image of a woman he now searches for; a mother that should not exist. But for Raziel, 'should not' and 'can not' are words he knows will follow him wherever he goes: the perception of his existence is built on it. What he did that night was unheard of. Impossible. Demons can't be selfless, it is the antithesis of their entire nature. They don't slaughter their own kind in the outright defence of another, especially for their prey. And neither can they feed on their own kin for sustenance. And yet he did. Repeatedly. ...Having taken an immediate interest in his disposition and the details (or lack thereof) of his true origins, Evelyn strikes a deal with this amnesiac devil: for him to become a Hunter of the Syndicate -- the ultimate adversaries to his demonkind and the night guardians of humanity, and in exchange: the full available resources needed to help him find the maternal figure he searches for. It's a Quid Pro Quo, an agreed upon exchange between the Devil of Shadows & the Maiden Noble of the Valtiel Family. Simple, and blasphemous. And for the oncoming future -- of strengthening demons, endangering human conflicts, and the clouding and looming veil of another biblical, world-ending prophesy...? Absolutely necessary.
