Chapter 1
Tessa applied nude lipstick to her moderately thick lips. She placed her white rimmed Chanel shades over her eyes completing her bitch boss look of a tailored crisp white business suit that fit her plus size curves perfectly. The cherry red vintage corvette with white stripe pulled up in front of Preston towers.
The media was out in full swing for the press conference. The driver came out, and Tessa looked at her reflection in the side mirror one more time. It was time to get busy and handle another product launch for the company, so she had to pull up in style. The driver opened her door and held his hand to help her out the car. She gladly took his help as her white pumps hit the pavement camera flashes and questions were already directed to her. She walked towards the towers with her bodyguards in tow. At the entrance stood her family looking less than please none so more than her husband. Undoubtedly they were not happy with the fact that she was a few minutes late. Something she was certain she'd hear an ear full of later. Her so called meneage faces maybe hid well from the public but for her she saw right through them. Her mother in-law looked pissed, her father in-law lips frowned, her brother in-law's nose had a slight flare, her sister in-law secretly rolled her eyes and there was her husband, the worst look of them all. A mix of I dont give a fuck and bitch please. Somehow Tessa felt oddly satisfied and her smile increased hugely to the onlookers but was set in sarcasm to her family. They were masked behind the screen but she knew they could not do shit about it. She was the star of this show and she wasn't afraid to annoy or piss them off at all, actually she revealed in it. She could give as much as she could take.
Approaching, her husband step beside her and planted his award-winning actors smile on his face. Making it look good to their supporters, media and investors. The Prestons prided themselves on image and she was there to play along just to uphold her father's sadly well-intentioned dying wishes but for this family of cruel vultures if he only knew.
Xavier put his arm around hers as the rest of them headed into the towers now that she was here. Her husband bent to her ears still smiling but there was venom on his tongue as he spoke low enough for her ears only.
"You think showing up late to this event is funny. Need I remind you to know your damn place. You aint shit. What you have was given not earned." Xavier raised his head still with a fake loving smile.
Tessa just kept her eyes forward with a slight smugness to her smile. She turned her head and gently brought his head back down to her so she could retort back to him. To the crowd it looked like a wife appreciating her husband's loving gestures, so he didn't dear move as she spoke her words in his ears.
"Hubby today is a good day but let's not forget this product launch is my baby. By the look of things our presales just from our investors alone sold out in less than a day. Imagine when it launches out to the public this weekend. Let's see if you can say with your full chest this weekend when the real sales report comes out I aint shit. Remember Preston Towers is only standing because I came in and saved your lazy asses. Now be a good boy and watch me work or let your tower crumble if I choose to do so." She smiled wickedly at him as his demeaner changed at her arrogance.
Xavier just grinded his teeth peeved but kept his smile as he guided her through the building as much as loathed each other the simple fact was they needed each other.
