Ever read a book and struggle to picture the characters’ faces? Well, now I can.
I guess. . . maybe I should start from the beginning.
After I went to the gym, I washed up and relaxed. My version of relaxing—bundling up and reading a book.
I settled into my slightly large tube top, and since I live alone, I didn’t need any pants, and besides, I have a soft blanket to cover my legs.
My fresh cup of coffee was warm in my hands. I just finished my book, and now I browse my TBR bookshelves—which were practically all of them—to find my next distraction.
Once I found my next book, I sat on my papasan chair that I conveniently put by my large windows. I set my coffee on the windowsill and opened the cover of my book.
A muffled truck engine sounded just outside my apartment. I sighed, not even getting the chance to read who the dedications were.
My eyes naturally travel to the commotion outside. I just realized it was gloomy despite me going out earlier, but the sun threatened to split the clouds.
Just diagonal to my apartment was a moving truck. They unloaded quickly and left just as fast as they arrived.
I shrug my shoulders with a slight frown, impressed by how minimalistic the new tenant is. But, come to think of it, I haven’t seen the new tenant. They must have a great occupation if they’re living here. I mean, I’m a computer engineer and programmer, so I’d like to think I make a decent living.
But what do they do?
Maybe they’re a girl and I can finally make a friend around here. Another sigh escaped me as I knew that there was no way in hell that was gonna happen.
If I remember correctly, that unit has a garage, so maybe they have a nice car. Our walls were connected, and the opposite unit is usually a reflection of the other. What if they get too rowdy during sex? Am I gonna hear all of that? I felt blood rush to my face, burning the tips of my ears which I didn’t even realize were cold.
My brain couldn’t help but swirl with questions, but I shook my head, hoping it would snap me out of my rabbit hole. I kept looking out the window for the new tenant, but they never came.
I stood from my chair, looking through the blinds. The lights were on; did they sneak in while I wasn’t looking?
“Argh!” I groaned frustratingly. Mostly with myself. Why am I so invested?
I plumped back down into my chair, finally flipping to the first page of my book. Even though I read the sentences, I didn’t understand a single word.
My head fell back. I brought my fingers under my glasses, pinching my eyes.
“What is wrong with me?”
