Summary

In a small village in Uttar Pradesh, in a patriarchal society where a girl's fate is often sealed before she can dream, Durga was born into a low caste where life was never easy and every day was a struggle. Called Pari by her childhood friend Anay, their innocent bond was a rare light in a harsh world. When she was only 13 , Durga was forced into a child marriage with a 50 year old man. But she chose courage over fear and ran away with nothing but hope in her heart. Alone and starving in the city of Madras, her life changed when a kind couple adopted her, gave her a new name and a chance to rewrite her future. From the dusty lanes of her village to becoming a powerful IAS officer, Durga's journey is about breaking every chain society tied around her including the childhood love she left behind and the fight to win it back. If you believe in hope, resilience and love that can survive any struggle, then this is a story you would enjoy reading
