Chapter 1: The Old Attic

Eleanor Blake had always been drawn to her family’s history—its secrets, its shadows. Growing up, she’d heard whispers about Victor Frankenstein, her great-great-grandfather, the infamous scientist whose obsession with creating life had ended in tragedy. Now, as a renowned geneticist, she felt the weight of that legacy pressing on her shoulders.

One rainy afternoon, she decided to clear out her grandmother’s attic, a dusty, forgotten space filled with relics of the past. Her footsteps echoed on the creaking wooden floor as she sifted through boxes of old photographs, faded letters, and antique furniture. In a corner, tucked beneath a moldy tarp, she found a leather-bound journal, its cover cracked and fragile with age.

Her fingers trembled as she pulled it free, brushing away layers of dust. The name embossed in faded gold—Victor Frankenstein—sent a shiver down her spine. She hesitated, contemplating whether to open it. But curiosity—her lifelong companion—won out.

She settled onto a dusty trunk, carefully pried open the cover, and began to read.

The handwriting was frantic, obsessive. Victor’s words painted a picture of obsession—his relentless pursuit of “the secret of life,” driven by grief, hubris, and a desperate desire to conquer death.

But what caught her attention were the margins, scribbled notes, sketches of strange creatures, and cryptic references. One page, in particular, had her heart pounding:

“The creature is but the beginning. There are others—more perfect—more controlled—hidden away, waiting for the right time to be awakened.”

Her breath caught. Could it be true? Had her ancestor created more than just the infamous monster? Could there be others, lurking in the shadows of history?
