Hello, friends!
Welcome to my new story. This one is extra special โ set entirely in Kerala, filled with our customs, beliefs, and quirks. Other states may call us Mallu, but hereโs a peek into the soul who we really are.
Are you ready to dive into a completely Mallu story?
Letโs begin...
~~
โWhatโs your name?โ he asked.
โP-Pleaseโฆ donโt marry me,โ she stammered, trembling.
โIโm just asking your name,โ his deep voice rolled across the room like thunder.
She stood frozen, her body visibly shivering. Her eyes were wide, her teeth chattering, and her voice caught in her throat.
โMmmโฆโ
โMmmโฆโ
โName?โ he repeated with raised brows.
โMโฆyโฆ naโฆme?โ
โYes. You forgot your name?โ he teased.
โNo, not like that. Itโsโฆ Iโmโฆโ
He waited patiently, arms crossed.
โIโmโฆ GUNDUMULAKU,โ she blurted.
Silence.
His lips parted. A second passed. And thenโhe burst out laughing.
โWHAT? Seriously? GUNDUMULAKU?! Is that your real name?โ
She nodded robotically, her face comic and blank, like a character out of a cartoon.
He lost it.
He slumped onto the nearest sofa, laughing uncontrollably. His stomach hurt, his eyes filled with tears.
In thirty years of life, Sidhanth Varma had never laughed like this.
Looking at her utterly clueless expression only made him laugh harder. He finally caught his breath and wiped his tears.
โOkay okayโฆ Hello, Gundumulaku! Iโm Sidhanth Varma,โ he said with mock politeness.
โWHAT!?โ
โI just addressed you by your name.โ
โWhatโฆ!โ
โYou said your name is Gundumulaku. Is there a problem?โ
โYes!โ she nearly shouted.
โHmm?โ
โMy name is Niveditha Sharma, not Gundumulaku!โ
โBut you just saidโโ
โSTOP. Forget it. Just call me Niveditha.โ
He smiled. โAlright, letโs talk about the other thing you saidโฆโ
She blinked.
โYou donโt want to marry me?โ
โYES,โ she said boldly.
โWhy? Do you like someone else?โ
โNo!โ
โThenโฆ?โ
โIโm not suitable for you,โ she said, avoiding his gaze. โIโm a chubby girl. Iโm not the kind of woman you should marry. Youโre a good manโฆ You deserve the best.โ
A pause.
โOhโฆ so you like me, but donโt want to marry me?โ he said, grinning.
She nodded, almost sheepishly.
โThen hear me loud and clear,โ he said, standing up. โYou are my destiny, my future, my wife. You were born to marry me. So letโs get married.โ
โWHAT!?โ
โI think you should consult an ENT doctor.โ
โWHAT?โ
โI said, you seem to be having hearing issues.โ
โWhat the hellโฆโ
โIโm just stating facts.โ
โBYE! Letโs NOT meet at our engagement!โ she snapped.
He winked. โAww, but we will. See you there.โ
As he turned to leave, she stood speechless.
โWhat the hell is happening around me?โ she muttered.
โSIMPLE,โ he said from the door. โYou just met your future. Now go draw a picture of my handsome face in your heart.โ
โWHAT?!โ
โI insist. And pleaseโget that ENT appointment fast!โ
โYOUUUU!โ
โNot โyouโโjust call me Sidhanth,โ he laughed. โOr give me a nickname, if you like. But remember, Iโll always call you Gundumulaku.โ
He disappeared, still chuckling.
