Hello, friends!
Welcome to my new story. This one is extra special β set entirely in Kerala, filled with our customs, beliefs, and quirks. Other states may call us Mallu, but hereβs a peek into the soul who we really are.
Are you ready to dive into a completely Mallu story?
Letβs begin...
~~
βWhatβs your name?β he asked.
βP-Pleaseβ¦ donβt marry me,β she stammered, trembling.
βIβm just asking your name,β his deep voice rolled across the room like thunder.
She stood frozen, her body visibly shivering. Her eyes were wide, her teeth chattering, and her voice caught in her throat.
βMmmβ¦β
βMmmβ¦β
βName?β he repeated with raised brows.
βMβ¦yβ¦ naβ¦me?β
βYes. You forgot your name?β he teased.
βNo, not like that. Itβsβ¦ Iβmβ¦β
He waited patiently, arms crossed.
βIβmβ¦ GUNDUMULAKU,β she blurted.
Silence.
His lips parted. A second passed. And thenβhe burst out laughing.
βWHAT? Seriously? GUNDUMULAKU?! Is that your real name?β
She nodded robotically, her face comic and blank, like a character out of a cartoon.
He lost it.
He slumped onto the nearest sofa, laughing uncontrollably. His stomach hurt, his eyes filled with tears.
In thirty years of life, Sidhanth Varma had never laughed like this.
Looking at her utterly clueless expression only made him laugh harder. He finally caught his breath and wiped his tears.
βOkay okayβ¦ Hello, Gundumulaku! Iβm Sidhanth Varma,β he said with mock politeness.
βWHAT!?β
βI just addressed you by your name.β
βWhatβ¦!β
βYou said your name is Gundumulaku. Is there a problem?β
βYes!β she nearly shouted.
βHmm?β
βMy name is Niveditha Sharma, not Gundumulaku!β
βBut you just saidββ
βSTOP. Forget it. Just call me Niveditha.β
He smiled. βAlright, letβs talk about the other thing you saidβ¦β
She blinked.
βYou donβt want to marry me?β
βYES,β she said boldly.
βWhy? Do you like someone else?β
βNo!β
βThenβ¦?β
βIβm not suitable for you,β she said, avoiding his gaze. βIβm a chubby girl. Iβm not the kind of woman you should marry. Youβre a good manβ¦ You deserve the best.β
A pause.
βOhβ¦ so you like me, but donβt want to marry me?β he said, grinning.
She nodded, almost sheepishly.
βThen hear me loud and clear,β he said, standing up. βYou are my destiny, my future, my wife. You were born to marry me. So letβs get married.β
βWHAT!?β
βI think you should consult an ENT doctor.β
βWHAT?β
βI said, you seem to be having hearing issues.β
βWhat the hellβ¦β
βIβm just stating facts.β
βBYE! Letβs NOT meet at our engagement!β she snapped.
He winked. βAww, but we will. See you there.β
As he turned to leave, she stood speechless.
βWhat the hell is happening around me?β she muttered.
βSIMPLE,β he said from the door. βYou just met your future. Now go draw a picture of my handsome face in your heart.β
βWHAT?!β
βI insist. And pleaseβget that ENT appointment fast!β
βYOUUUU!β
βNot βyouββjust call me Sidhanth,β he laughed. βOr give me a nickname, if you like. But remember, Iβll always call you Gundumulaku.β
He disappeared, still chuckling.
