Intro:
The first light of dawn shone between the tall buildings.
I raised my camera...
Click. Click. Click.
“Nice shot, Lilin.” A soft voice said, and a small smile appeared on my face. Warm pride grew inside my chest, like the sun starting to rise.
From the rooftop, I could hear the city’s heartbeat below — cars, people, and busy streets.
But for me, Lilin, a freelance photojournalist, my eyes and my camera always found the small moments that others missed. Because every photo has its own story.
My father was my inspiration. He left only memories and his old camera, and a small condo in the crowded center of the city where I lived with my mother.
Mom was a quiet woman, but her love was warm — like the city itself. Sometimes it was bright and beautiful, sometimes dark and tiring.
Still, we promised each other that we would never give up, even when the bills seemed to never end.
Then one day, it felt as if a small light had entered my heart. The phone rang, and a clear voice said,
“Hello, is this Ms. Lilin? I’m calling from Stride X. We’d like to offer you a special assignment at the national level. The details will be sent by email. Please confirm your availability.”
That was the beginning.
“The moment that everything changed”
When someone stepped into my life and touched my heart without even knowing it.
