Chapter 1

The Scar of the Void

The cold was the only constant companion of her exile. It had settled deep in Rebecca’s bones, mirroring the icy hate that was all that remained of her wolf. She was a ruin—mutilated by the Alpha’s decree, teeth ground down to dull pebbles, fingers scarred where the claws had been ripped out, and the silver Traitor's Mark—a jagged crescent—burned into her shoulder, throbbing with every beat of her useless, human heart.

She stumbled through the woods, avoiding any scent of civilization, driven by one singular, agonizing purpose: Vengeance.

Owen. Nina. The false peace they built on her sacrifice.

It was near the edge of the forest, where the very soil looked dead, that the cold intensified, not just in temperature, but in feeling. It was the cold of non-existence.

The air shimmered, not with heat, but with a total absence of energy. There, suspended between two ancient oaks, was a patch of perfect, swirling Black. It was a hole in the world, smaller than a coffin, yet it seemed to draw the light from the moon and the stars, leaving a desolate circle of absolute shadow.

Rebecca, the broken traitor, dragged herself toward it, feeling an overwhelming, morbid peace in its presence. For the first time since the ritual, her pain felt dull. She reached out a trembling hand, drawn by the promise of oblivion.

As her fingers neared the swirling darkness, a voice, ancient and soft as silk, slid into her mind—a voice that held no judgment, only a deep, alluring understanding of suffering.

"Little Exile. You bear the mark of their judgment. Tell me, dear child, does it not ache to have your essence stolen by their petty rules?"

The Scar of the Void (Continued)

The voice, ancient and soft as silk, slid into her mind—a voice that held no judgment, only a deep, alluring understanding of suffering.

"Little Exile. You bear the mark of their judgment. Tell me, dear child, does it not ache to have your essence stolen by their petty rules?"

The words were a direct hit, piercing through the numbness. Rebecca’s legs gave out, not from exhaustion, but from the weight of her sudden, raw hope. She collapsed onto her knees in the cold dirt before the swirling, abyssal tear. Her head bowed, the silver Traitor's Mark exposed on her shoulder.

"Yes," she croaked, the sound scratching her ruined throat. She didn't question what the voice was or where it came from. All that mattered was that it acknowledged her pain and her hate. "I ache. They took everything. My pack. My purpose. My form. They left me this... this lie of a life!"

She lifted her desperate gaze to the Void, the blackness swirling, somehow more alive and comforting than the light of the Moon Weaver above.

"Alpha Owen and his Luna—they did this. They broke me to secure their claim," she spat, hatred granting her strength. "I will give anything. Anything! A life? My soul? Take it! Just let me hurt them the way they hurt me. Help me shatter their bond. Help me wipe the smile off that Moon Weaver’s face!"

The voice chuckled—a dry, rustling sound like dead leaves in a forgotten tomb.

"Souls are a clumsy currency, Exile. And vengeance is merely a child’s game," Lilith purred through the tear. "I offer something greater. I offer freedom from the cycle. I offer the means to prove their entire creation is a lie. You were punished for refusing to bow; I understand that freedom better than any other."

A tendril of pure, liquid shadow, slick and cold, oozed from the edge of the tear, reaching toward her marked shoulder.

"I need a Hand in the world, Rebecca. You will be my Blade. I will not heal you. I will not give you back their flawed wolf form. I will replace it. Your Silver Mark, the symbol of your betrayal, will become the conduit of my power. You will become what they fear most: the embodiment of the Null."

The shadow touched the silver mark on Rebecca's shoulder. There was no heat, only a consuming cold that felt like oblivion. Rebecca did not scream. She only grinned, a silent, feral promise of doom as the darkness seeped into her, replacing bone and blood with the chilling, endless power of The Void.
