By the time Jessica woke up it was almost 10:00am in the morning and the sun was out brightly shining from behind the thick curtains covering the bedroom window.
She groaned, rolling herself over only to come face to face with Tommy who was sitting upright on his side of the bed, busily typing away at his laptop.
Keeping his eyes on the screen, he spoke to her.
“Good morning, beautiful.” he declared.
“Did you sleep well?”
Jessica wanted to go off at him for choking her out last night.
For the rapes and everything else.
But she held all her anger inside and forced herself to speak politely.
Far too fearful of him getting mad at her again.
She couldn’t handle another punishment… not after last night.
“Yes. Thank you.” she spoke meekly, then sitting herself upright and flipping back the covers to get out of bed.
He turned to glance at her.
“Where are you going?” he asked her with a frown.
She kept her back to him but spoke so that he could hear her.
“To have a shower and get changed.” she replied, then standing and making her way into the ensuite, closing the door behind her and locking it.
Tommy chuckled as he heard the door lock, but he focused on his work again and continued typing away at the keyboard.
He still had quite a lot of work to catch up on and needed to get it all done before that evening.
As soon as Jessica had entered the ensuite and locked the door, she fought the need to burst into tears.
Her entire body ached, and her throat was throbbing painfully.
Making her way over towards the basin, she glanced into the mirror’s reflection and saw the obvious bruising around her throat from being choked by him.
Her eyes were filled with tears now as she pursed her lips together to prevent herself from making any sounds.
She didn’t want Tommy to hear her crying.
She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of hearing her cry.
Trying to swallow, it ached, and she scrunched up her face, forcing the lump down her throat, even as uncomfortable as it was for her.
She promised herself that she would find a way for her and Monica to escape this hellish prison of theirs.
Tonight, she would find a way to get help, no matter what it took.
Later that afternoon, Dante had finally finished up with the boys, and he retired to his bedroom to visit his wife.
It had been a difficult morning for everyone so far and he needed to see Alexa.
As he entered the bedroom, he paused, noticing that his wife was seated upright on the bed, wearing her glasses and reading on her tablet, as she usually was.
He smiled, feeling incredibly lucky to have her safe and sound, what with everything going on right now.
He felt terrible for his sons though.
Closing the door behind himself, he crossed the length of the room and came to sit down on the edge of the bed.
“You’re reading again.” the Don remarked, lifting his left brow at her.
“You’re always immersed in those books of yours.”
“What can I say, they’re good.” Alexa admitted, lowering her tablet and smiling at him as she removed her glasses and placed them onto the blanket beside her.
But as she did, she immediately recognised the concerned expression upon his handsome face and she worried.
“What’s happened?” she asked knowingly.
Dante sighed, knowing that trying to keep this from her would only make her worry more.
“We received a video from Tommy Trevone this morning.” he explained.
Alexa didn’t like the sound of that one little bit.
“Ok… can I see it-” she began to ask, but he cut in sternly with his response right away.
“-No.”
His expression showed her that there would be no arguments on the matter.
“Why not?” she still questioned her husband, wanting to know more about why it had gotten to him so much.
“He rapes and strangles someone in it.” Dante replied bluntly to her query.
“You’re not watching it, and that’s final.”
“Oh my god…” she looked horrified.
“Who?”
Dante averted his gaze from her, unwilling to tell her the truth, or to lie to her.
“Dante, who?” she questioned him again.
And judging by his expression, along with the fact that Alexa was already aware of Jessica’s recent kidnapping, she immediately connected the dots and her face fell.
“No… not Jessica.” she spoke in disbelief, holding her hand over her mouth.
“Is she… still alive?”
Dante sighed, nodding, “Yes, thankfully.”
“Oh, the poor thing… have the boys seen it yet?” Alexa questioned with concern.
Dante’s expression didn’t change as he replied, “Yes.”
“Oh no…” she whimpered with worry.
“Dante they’re not going to just sit by and do nothing now. Not after seeing something like that.” she warned him.
“I know.” he agreed.
“I’m keeping a close eye on them. Don’t worry.”
“It won’t work.” she spoke, shaking her head.
“Do you remember what you felt like, being forced to just sit by and watch Matteo raping me on that cruise ship? They’re feeling that exact same way right now, Dante. Both of them. They’re hurting, deeply. They’re going to want his blood for this. And they’re not going to stop until they get it.”
Dante sighed again.
She was right.
He did recall those horrific memories that she was referring to and the subsequent emotions raging from deep inside him at the time.
They burned, desperate to be unleashed, and nothing could sate them.
“What do you suggest I do, bella? Lock them away in their rooms?” he challenged.
Alexa shook her head.
“That won’t stop them.” she admitted.
“Just understand what they’re going through. And be there for them, when they need you the most. As their father, not their Don.”
Dante looked to her with teary eyes, finding it difficult to control his own emotions at that time.
He felt like he was losing his sons, and this whole Tommy situation was spinning way out of control.
He needed to get back in the game, and to be several steps ahead of his rival Don once more.
That, and he needed to protect his sons from doing anything foolish.
It was obvious why Tommy had sent them that video; he was baiting the boys to react and slip up by doing so.
But Dante was way ahead of Tommy Trevone.
He would not allow his sons to make that mistake.
“Are you ready for this evening?” he asked her, changing the subject to something far more appropriate.
“Yes. He’ll be there though, won’t he?” Alexa queried knowingly.
Dante nodded his head.
“We can’t let the boys go.” Alexa pointed out.
“You know how they’ll react if they so much as see him.”
“Maximo has to go. As the future CEO, he needs to attend.” Dante declared solemnly.
“How did they react? You know, when they watched the video?” she asked with concern.
Dante spoke his recollection aloud.
“Maximo totally lost it. He started trashing the room.” he explained.
“Nicola had to hold him down so they could sedate him.”
“Oh my god… oh, my poor baby.” Alexa spoke with concern.
“And Ale? How did he react?”
“I’m more worried about him than I am Maximo.” Dante declared.
“He didn’t react.”
Alexa frowned, confused by this.
“What do you mean he didn’t react?” she asked.
“I mean, he didn’t react. He stood there the entire time that the video played, just staring at it. He just… didn’t react.” Dante explained.
Alexa swallowed nervously.
“Well, what does that mean?” she enquired.
“Honestly?” he queried, looking to her.
“I have no idea. I’m worried about what’s going on in that head of his. And I’m worried about what he’ll do now.”

I hope these boys know what theyre doing this time. Dante can only do so much.
