Summary

LARGE AGE GAP / FORCED PROXIMITY / SNOWED-IN ❄ ❄ ❄ CHLOE thought her escape was impossible. Fleeing her abusive fiancé during a brutal blizzard, her only chance comes when she dives into the unlocked truck of a weathered, silent, and older stranger at a remote gas station. He doesn’t talk much, but he promises to keep her safe. Soon, though, safety starts to feel a hell of a lot like wanting. Chloe is left to wonder if she can trust yet another man, or if Jed will only hurt her, too. ❄ ❄ ❄ JED is a mountain hermit, living in exile to outrun the ghosts of his past. When he finds Chloe hiding in his truck, he sees a desperate second chance to make things right. He lies for her, then drives them deep into the unforgiving mountains to his isolated log cabin. Chloe is everything Jed is not—bright, beautiful, and refusing to stay down after being knocked on her ass. He quickly learns she has a way of breaking down his walls without him realizing it, and he struggles to come to terms with her wanting him. Not only is she half his age, but she’s damaged, and he absolutely won’t take advantage of that—but she is also determined to get what she wants, and he can only be strong for so long.

READERS NOTE / CONTENT WARNINGS

Hey babes! This is just a quick heads-up before you start reading. This story is cozy, but like most of my books, it deals with some heavier stuff, so please make sure to be mindful of the content warnings.

This book includes:

- Domestic Abuse

- Stalking/being hunted down by an ex

- Violence (briefly, but it’s there)

- Death (ONLY mentioned)

- Trauma

- Spice/sexual content

- Strong language

Also, this is a BIG age gap romance (26 years). If that’s not your thing, totally okay, but those who love a good silver fox, keep reading. 😉

TROPES

forced proximity / snowed in / cabin in the woods / one bed (eventually) / strangers to lovers / grumpy mountain man / sunshine-but-traumatized FMC / protective MMC / touch her and die vibes / slow burn / healing after abuse / age gap romance (large) / size difference / reluctant hero / possessive-but-not-toxic (more protective than controlling)
